'96 Clio rsi with a leaky sunnroof that seems to have rendered the immobliser immobilsed! He's tried drying out the receiver thingy in the roof, to no avail. Anyone any bright ideas?

If the problem is due to water ingress then u need to estimate how long the water has been getting in as if it has been a while then the issue will likely be corroded connectors and wires, especially in a car that age. I would start by getting a quality contact cleaner and a n old tooth brush and clean eVERY connection you can see spraying in silicon spray afterwards.

I would also test the integrity of all wires in the area affected.

You see the problem is...due to the age of the vehicle that what might seem obvious....ie the leaky sunroof and the receiver... is actually being caused. by a dodgey earth or wire.

Electrical problems like this are killing more cars of the period than rust etc as they can lead to specialist involvement

If none of the above works and the clio forums can't help then auto electrician time but no point in spending over 500 on one as you could replace the car for that!

How about hairdrying the sensor? It might help getting rid of the last few drops ?

Whilst I am totally shit at understanding electrickery I have had success using this sort of thing on the steering column switches (horn, etc) on the DS and it did a brilliant job on the dodgy volume control on my hi-fi amp.
