I don't have the funds to fix it. That's why it needs to go. My 'car fixing' fund is not very large, and I've just booked the BX in for welding. 2CV also needs welding and both Citroens need fettling too. Not enough time or money to sort another vehicle out. That's ultimately why the Range Rover had to go.

hmm..

I eoulf take the Rover off the market and sell the Mini - there is always a demand for them and lets face it - whilst they are fun to drive they are a pig to own especially in a part of the country where it pisses with rain every 5 minutes!

then you would have ample funds to fix the 75 and sell it, fettle the citroens and buy a ZX or Xantia TDi for the winter!

there you go - makes much more sense tan the Chancellor's statement just did -!

a CBR....Chod Based Recovery!

Problem is Scoots, we've actually tried to sell the Mini over the summer. Not so much as a sniff. We are asking a strong £2495 for it, but I would have hoped for at least a modicum of interest. The Mini now has rot creeping into the sills, so overall, that's as saleable as a used condom too. I appear to have once more ended up with a fleet of knackered shite.

As the Rover doesn't seem to be shifting, I probably will keep it. Even if it has transmission issues, it still has heated seats! Despite its failings, it has still managed to transport me around 1000 miles around the UK in the space of a few weeks. It could prove quite a lucrative breaker if I end up having to go down that route too.

it's a shite time of year to be selling - a mate was having problems shifting a mondeo - he bought a couple of cheap winer tyres and bunged them on the front - unsold for a month but shifted in 2 days after doing that...could be a suggestion Buy a Rover and get 80 quids worth of Korean plastic pretnding to be rubber for free

I'm prepared to eat humble pie come Jan or Feb, but the chances of a repeat of last year's OMG SNO KAOS seem quite distant at the moment. This time last year, we had our first white-out. I reckon anyone after cheap winter tyres should check Ebay out in March or April, when people have got sick of them taking up space!

Cash raising idea for DW -

Classic Hub shop - never mind tee shitrs with 2CVs and Austin 7s on them - you need to get your shonky Mk1 BX Chod on the tee shirts and mugs - be a sure seller on Autoshite - I can just picture my love4d ones faces as they unwrap their pressies to see a dented light blue Mk1 BX on a korean tee shirt!

quality!

Assuming you could shift the Rover on to pastures new, what are you going to use as a winter hack?

WTC - not sure I really need one. The 2CV has been my sole car before, and there's no reason it can't be again. I managed to cope for three years with only 2CVs (ignoring a particularly knackered Skoda Estelle) so there's no reason why I shouldn't put my faith in them again. The Rover has been handy for a trip to the south east and a weekend at the delightful NEC, but I'm not really planning to go anywhere now until January, and the first thing then is a 2CV road run! I work from home, so it's not like I actually have to drive somewhere every day.
