This switch on a Rover R8 which changes the brightness of the lights on the dashboard. Fantastic.

 

Not unique to the R8 by any means.

 

 

No, but it came a quite a surprise when I first used it!

^ My VW has a version of that. The headlights are operated by pulling a button out of the dash, you can spin the button round to adjust the brightness of the dash lights.

 

I like having it but absent minded twiddling while driving has been known to cause a panic that the headlights have failed :twisted:

I've found those on many cars, going back a long long time!

On post-Classic Range Rovers the dash light intensity can be programmed to each remote key, along with a billion other things, and the dash display tells you when the key battery needs replacing. Which is a nice touch.

As for the electronic closing of the boot on Renault 25s, wasn't that only on the Bacarra? Certainly not on my TXE!

 

Well my V6 Injection has it! Could well have been an optional extra though, leather and the ergonmic pack were added so that may well have been as well.
