  1. Been a while since I made an update here, so here's a selection of todays findings: FIAT 127 SPECIAL COMBI 1976 by fruttan, on Flickr Audi 100 converted into a car transporter. These where made by a swedish company, usually based on SAABs though. Ford Taunus Turnier! Not taxed for the last 5 years, faded paint and missing door mirror. Lets hope someone's planning to restore this one! Don't know if I've ever seen one before. Funny looking rear wheel angle and a wooden block in front of one of the wheels to stop it from going downhill, but seemed to be in good condition. Another big surprise. Anyone knows anything about them, cause I really fancy having one! SUBARU SVX 1993 by fruttan, on Flickr A few from the last couple of weeks: VOLKSWAGEN POLO L 1976 by fruttan, on Flickr Yes, that's the SAAB factory in the background. 2. The number of remaining SAAB 99 for each production year was publiced in a swedish car magazine recently, but I think you can get them if you ask the swedish car registry.
  3. Thought I should make an update with some of decembers spottings, been a bit difficult though with all the snow! 4. Thanks for the comments! And yes I would love that Bluebird to, always wanted a diesel one. The use of road salt depends on where in Sweden you go. I don't think they use that much in the city where the last pictures are from and I know some northen cities and the island of Gotland don't use road salt at all. Southern Sweden use a lot though. As myglaren wrote, engine block heaters are common here. They do make it easier to start a car in -30 C! ps Like your name, myglaren! Sadly I don't know that much about Borås.
  5. I'll continue with a selection of spottings from last week. These are all taken in two days in the same town in northen Sweden. MAZDA 929 SEDAN LIM 2.0I 1986 by fruttan, on Flickr The following four pictures are all from the same parking lot: LADA 2104-1,5 21043 M5 1987 FORD ESCORT by fruttan, on Flickr OPEL ASCONA DL 88244 1984 by fruttan, on Flickr SAAB 9000 I16 CC55D-B 1988 with friends by fruttan, on Flickr VOLVO 242L 1111111 B 1975 by fruttan, on Flickr Saw at least 10 corollas of this age in two days! More to come if you like it, although spotting is getting more difficult now with all the snow and darkness.
  6. I'm afraid so, yes! I'll try to get a better picture when I go there next time. When i comes to finding old cars in Sweden, I travel around a lot for work so I see more than you normally would. But depending on where in Sweden you go, there's still a lot of cars from the '80s around.
  7. Wow! Just gone through this thread from the beginning. Amazing! Makes me wanna go to Thailand right now!
  8. Thought I should follow Brammys advice and show a few of my spottings over here. As I spend most of my days out on the swedish roads, I've started the slightly impossible project of trying to get a photo of every model sold in Sweden during the '70s and '80s. I know there's a few models I'll never find but at least I can try, right!? I'll start with a few snowy pictures from this week. 9. New here so I guess I should show my shite! First my daily for the winter, a KIA Sephia GTX automatic. A real shite car, had a new gear box after 15000 km ! Doesn't seem to rust that much though. Kia Sephia GTX 1998 by fruttan, on Flickr My daily the last year or so, not using it this winter though. Had it stolen a couple of weeks before this picture was taken, hence the broken window. kadetten by fruttan, on Flickr The Audi 100 GL5E is MOTed but needs a new exhaust manifold gasket so it's beeing stored for the moment. Audi 100 GL 5E 1977 by fruttan, on Flickr Bluebird is very rusty and awaiting restoration. Have been thinking of putting a 1975 180BSSS engine in it, but for the moment I haven't decided what to do with it Datsun Bluebird ML 910 1980 by fruttan, on Flickr And finally the latest addition to the fleet, a 1979 Datsun 160J. Still has it's original radio and spotless interior! My 160J Left back by fruttan, on Flickr
  10. Hi! Haven't been posting here before, but being a swede I guess it's just proper my first post is about a Volvo. The 142 GT was a factory option available by special order at your Volvo dealer from 1971 and on. Don't know much about it other than that it consisted of those stripes and wheels and some extra instruments, I believe. Should be very rare now and I don't remember ever seeing one over here in Sweden. Great spots by the way, really like that Mazda 626!
