A Shite Weekend

It's been quite a long weekend. It all started on Friday night's drive homw from work in the Rover 220 coupe. About 5 miles from home I thought a loud bike was about to blast by, but no it was my car. So this weekend it's been sitting in disgrace.

As shown in the picture the exhaust is no longer connected to the rear section

Saturday was spent on the tractor soring out it starting procedure by added a solenoid

and seeing what gagues it should have (none have any needles)

As well as trying to get this allegro ready for a show today.

Sadly this morning it decided it didn't want to go and for the first time in three years I needed recovery. A smashing chap turned up, couln't fix it (he thinks it's coked up) and towed us home in his Transit with a spec lift that come out the van, very impressive.

 

So today was spent tring to fix that (with no luck, the compression on all cylinders is good), and cleaning the two Ambassadors.

The Red one is my daily transport this week, fine apart from a slight fuel tank leak.

And the the Brown one, needs welding (front valance, both sills, one wheelarch), the gear-linkage re-attached to the car and to work out why the oil light goes off for five seconds then comes back on even though it's got (a little too much) oil in it.

That brown ambassador is really nice! Those baggy beige nylon seats in the red one are awful arent they. i had a few like that, probably one of the most dismal car interiors of all time! It alone is enough to put anyone off wedges.

To be honest I'm just happy the sun hasn't cracked them open all over the place as it has in my Allegro with the same interior. I wish they were about 6 inches taller though, driving it gives me a backache every time.

Bit of a result this morning, after locking the keys in the red one overnight (the only set) the brown one's keys work in the red ones door. Multiple cars rock.

What a lovely pair of Ambassadors! Especially like the brown one, I don't think I've ever seen that tweed trim in an Ambassador before.
