Battery - couldn't be simple when Luxo's involved!

Now we know why it's a doddle to get a Masters in HR, you get everyone else to do the thinking for you.

Don't forget. Lefty Loosie, Righty Tighty.

Don't bridge both terminals with a socket handle*!

At this point I would suggest hammering a smaller nut on to it.

If something as basic as a battery change leads to such confusion, maybe its best paying someone who does know what they are doing - its basic safety for yourself and those who come into contact with the car.A simple mistake could cost a lot to put right,or even on a car like that if you begger the electrics up turn a nice car into a dead pile of £155 a ton scrap.

Yes,you can get adaptors to convert the round battery terminals to the square bolt through ones, and they aren't a fortune to purchase - if your local accesory store doesn't have them, then try eBay.

I hope you get your car in order again, and get many more happy miles from it

It's getting fucking daft this place again. Look Luxo, buy this battery here http://www.boschbatteries.com/23i-29i-p ... -1-370.php , Now stop asking stupid questions all the time and pissing people off on here.

hang on, that's also got the round terminals!

No need to get so riled up...it's all under control...or will be once they manage to source the correct part. Maybe I should just made a post on the grumpy thread instead!

Source the correct part? It's a fucking battery, not a clutch cable for a fucking Horsey Horseless. Jesus wept.

Have you considered just going to Halfords and asking to speak to the work experience boy?

Despite its semi-daunting appearance (under the cover, behind the bulkhead), it really is a piece of cake. The only tool required is a single 10mm spanner- I was thinking to myself 'surely it cannot possibly be so easy'. Then I realised that I had the wrong part! Anyhow, they've managed to find one with square terminals, albeit el-cheapo brand and only 515 CCA, so things are looking up, unless I somehow manage to make the thing explode.

Its a really good site that ford scorpio one, its as if the institue of mechanical engineers had a volunteer Ford Scorpio section, really thorough.

Considering we're not talking about a hugely popular car, it is incredible indeed. It is heartening to see people who are so serious about maintaining their cheap, unloved-by-the-masses barges- note that the battery used in that link is a Motorcraft one, and the Ford dealer (pretty much the only place you can get them from) sells them for ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY FIVE quid apiece!

Hopefully your motor factor where you've bought yours will do you a swap for one with the right terminals. If not you could probably get a decent one from GSF, they dont sell shite and are usually pretty competitive on price. I couldnt bring myself to spend £135 on a battery i'm afraid.

I got one for fifteen pounds from a local scrappy. They tested it first and so far so good it has been fine!!

The Scorpio site saved me a bloody fortune when I had my one. Friendly chaps, too. I got a few bits off various chaps on there and they were all mega helpful.

The best single car site I've ever been on, by a mile.
