I had a 1.6L estate a few years ago and it did everything adequately.

Odd thing is, they weigh about the same as a SMART car thing & I think less than the SMART roadster.

In the pictures, the Cortina looks a very delicate motor car in comparison to the blob of a FIAT 500.

The Autoshite Mint presents The Autofive Collection

DSCF3851.jpg

Hand crafted over 25 years ago by the greatest artists Dagenham* could offer these magnificent static display models give you the opportunity to relive the years that produced "Dollar", a recession and some strikes. You can almost believe it is still the '80s as you sit in the plush yet functional seat and wonder if it's going to start today or if you are staying at home, showing solidarity for your brothers on the picket line. Marvel at the Triplex laminated windscreen, only slightly delaminated at the edges and ABSOLUTELY NOT guaranteed to stop a paving flag chucked from a bridge. Your Autofive model will of course increase in value over the years, as long as rust is worth money this valuable collector's item will provide endless amounts for your enjoyment and pleasure.

Further models will be shipped around twice a year, only available in blue. Accident damage and mechanical failure shown for illustration purposes, yours may differ as each example of this STRICTLY LIMITED edition is unique.

Judging by the INSPEKTION sticker, that's probably a German built one, a RHD Taunus if you will. Dagenham was on strike for a lot of 1979 so lots of German and Irish built ones came over. Looks like Midnight blue as well...?

It absolutely has to stay standard - too many Cortinas have been ruined with nasty alloys and some dogshit old V6. A good uptogether 1600 Mark 5 is a pleasant way to travel - some gas shocks and Estate type solid rear axle bushes will really tighten it up.

I had a Cork built 1.6L Mark 5, RMB90V. It was also an early Mark 5 and was painted from new in Fjord blue which was a 78-79 Mark IV colour. It was a nice car and I liked it a lot.

but surely you'd then miss out on the whole cortina experience that is - rather pleasantly soft, gentle & wallowy.

I can't imagine driving a cort that's taught!

yes, im all for the full cortina experience, soft wallowing suspension, feel every pothole, lean on roundabouts, coughing 1.6 as you try to accellerate to keep up with a 1.1 Fiesta full of shopping
