Ratchet Spanners in Aldi..

£12.99 for a set with 8,10,13,15 and 17 flavours.

These are the ones with the 'hinged' bit for the ratchet, are they considered better or worse than the fixed ratchet style?

Bit of an oddball size selection, you're pretty much guaranteed to need both 12mm & 14mm - on the other hand, 13mm and 15mm have never been used by me (to my knowledge)...then again, I only ever work on Asian stuff - maybe the Euro cars use 'em?

Bought myself a set of these the other week:

I needed a 7mm spanner for changing the TPS sensor on the Nissan 240SX....yet another size I've never really used in the past

Yes, 13 and 15mm are common on European cars.

I bought a ratchet spanner set from Halfords recently for quite a bit more, the flex heads work well, especially for quickly changing the direction of the ratchet.

The hinge bit is better for confined spaces (like bolts on exhaust middle section in tunnel) but even baldness ones wore out and needed gaffer tape wrapped round them as they became limp due to some heavy use. 12 quid though. :)

I had some of these a couple of years back when Aldi were doing them. They seem pretty good quality, not your basement "OMG CHROME VANADIUM" efforts. Not really had chance to put them under much pressure, but they're a handy thing for £not much.
