KONDESESHUN FENOMENA- shall I be worried?

I've noticed that, whenever I return to the Scorpio, I encounter a (rather small) pool of water underneath it. After much initial panic, I checked the coolant level, hoses etc a few times and everything's perfect...The aircon also works flawlessly so that's another base covered. The water seems to come, in small but regular drops, from somewhere around the top end of the exhaust system, so I have reached the conclusion (of course, I wouldn't suprised if I was wrong!) that it must be some form of condensation. Apart from the potential for corrosion developing on the exhaust pipes etc in the long term, which shouldn't be an issue*, do I need to pay attention to anything or am I right to assume that things are basically fine and dandy?

*Quite a few of my journeys at the moment are quite short owing to the fact that I have to faff about with parking, as the shitty cuntcil are taking their time to get that LPG parking permit issued. However, previous experience suggests that they will eventually manage to send it, which would mean less pointless moving about.

Could simply be from using the air-con in the car and the equipment working correctly..they do that significantly in warmer, humid climes.

Have you been using the AC when you've noticed this?

Yes, the aircon is permanently on (it's climate-control so I just vary the temperature up and down)...but, hang on...If that were to be the case, wouldn't the water come from somewhere around the compressor/aircon radiator?

As long as you have been using the AC before you notice these puddles then all should be well.

It's simply the moisture in the air condensing when coming into contact with the cold AC system components.

Otherwise, the only other options I can think of are to check your washer fluid bottle and coolant levels - which are unlikely to be the source, given the scenario.

Cheers for that...Excellent stuff. I can now relax even more in the comfort of my leather armchair!

Well I'm going to leave my air-conditioned comfort and head up to "Bahia Vista" as the GF has decided she has a craving for Key Lime Pie!

There should be a reasonable sized puddle under the car on my return!

I'll be forming a good sized puddle later after my evening jog!...

I live in Qatar. If the puddle under my car were anything but ac condensate it would have boiled up / seized / lost all steering / brakes after the first time i use it.

Then again is it a Land Rover so...

My Ford Cougar does this, and it always co-incides with AC use. Presumably it uses some/all of the same air-con parts as a Scorpio.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just a little Ford foible.

Fords also seem prone to another kondenseshun fenomena - misting up internally in colder weather (far more than other cars I've had). Changing the pollen/cabin filters normally sorts this out though. A bit.

Any car with a/c will (should) do it to a certain extent (any a/c, actually), depending on the humidity outside of the car / building.

If you're cooling hot air which contains moisture, you are going to get condensation. This is captured and expelled from the system via a drain.

As for the steamy windows thing, we had a car that did that, and changing the pollen filter sorted it completely. It's amazing how shitty they get.
