Any Old Scrap?

I've been hiding any scrap I've had the past few weeks so would like to have a go at weighing it in myself.

What's the usual practise in these things?

There's car bits, discs, drums, an engine plus some rubble sacks of assorted stuff I've cleared out, diy stuff, about 10kg of nails from my pallet sideline etc.

I'm Rotherham/Sheffield if any places are easier than others, I'm not after a big wad from seperating stuff just the going rate for an assortment rather than funding the usual 3 thieves in a transit that steal it.

I'd still seperate any non-ferrous from ferrous and weigh them in seperately or you'll get mugged off. Get on Yellow Pages (or the net) and 'phone round any local yards for the current price as you'll find a bit of homework will see you a few quid richer.

i would also seperate heavy iron (discs/drums/engine) from light iron (panels/pallet nails etc)

There's a real good place at Staveley (Deatons).

Wilf Jay's at Treeton used to be OK but now they're owned by Motorhog (who used to be Doncaster Motor Spares I think) so I'm not so sure.

Booth's. I took 918kg of various things to Rotherham in the Land Rover, and netted £190 about a year or so ago.

I also took a little over 500kg in the Astra Estate...... They WERE surprised.

If I went in my Astra estate they'd think I was there to weigh it in.:lol:

I'll see what I can seperate out and give them a try.

What's the bottom end of a 4-cylinder engine worth? With crank and pistons.
