Peykan is my ultimate dream car. Still available from new, albeit in pick-up form only, at your local dealership*!!!*Meaning in Shiraz.There's an Iranian film I've seen called 'It's Winter' and there is a brief scene where one of the characters is looking for a job and enters the magical kingdom that is the Peykan factory on the outskirts of Tehran, you can see acre upon acre of bare metal shells glistening in the fluroescent light of the shop floor, anyway he just walks straight in, goes to the foremans office and demands a job, he is escorted out by security.He later goes back at night, breaks into the car park, and smashes a few Company Peykans up in an act of revenge with a baseball bat.Shite-tacular!! And for all your Peugeot 405 FREAKZ, check out the Iranian film '10' by Abbas Kiarostami. A full feature length film set solely in one of these beasts (I might even be the mythical RWD version). Amazing.

The Moskvitch Aleko is pretty much a carbon copy* of the Chrysler Alpine - fact.I remember reading in Autocar circa 1986 that Satra Motors (Lada importers) were considering bringing it into the UK. What a shame they didn't! It would have been instant shite, and I reckon it would have cleaned up on the minicab circuit.* The photocopier must have needed servicing that day, mind.

I'm just wondering if it breaks down, not only would it look like a giant pig is shagging your multipla, but to check the points are ok you'd need most of your head, arms and torso up its arse
