I used to drive the 400s (pre-Convoy) on a daily basis. Nothing lower than a high-top, some were even box vans. Not sure which engines they were (F/H/K plates) but all had seen plenty of action. The first one was replaced by a Roadrunner, the others (different firm, and all refrigerated) by Turbo Dailies. The Daily drivers didn't want to know the Dafs once they got a burst of Iveco life, and fair enough those were good vans; but I was often able to take a 400 home with me, as nobody else wanted them, so I came to ... if not exactly love, at least respect them (for the petrol they saved me, if nothing else, lol). They were tough old nails, standing unimaginable abuse. I moved house with one, towed-in my SD1 with another... those were the days! :D

I bet you could get one of those chipped, they can do pretty much anything that's got an ECU. rules out my J4 clubman/sherpa/ldv thing then.

You'll probably NEVER see one of these "fo reel" on UK roads

(yeah yeah, Bickle has one, so like I said - you'll never see one...)

Last year, I saw an A-reg pick-up at the A63/M1 junction. Of course, I didn't have a camera on me...

I had one!! :D

1978 T plate, 1100cc, sounded like tumble dryer full of nails, had a nifty rope and piece of wood ( used to tension rope between engine and chassis to keep the engine falling out (rotten mounting). It was fast, seriously comfortable, had a hideous gearchange and was rotten but it was excellent!

My dads firm had one on their breakdown fleet in the 70s, it was used to tow with an A frame, something it, apparently, did very well.

Great stuff! The venerable Stanley Yankee ratchet screwdriver, the hallmark of rapid assembly! I remember all the stand assemblers at the Earl's Court and Olympia motorcycle shows using these prior to the DeWalt invasion.

This one's a 2002 with 86k on, £1600, looks super tidy like.

Seems the LDV gets this engine in 75bhp flavour, the feeblest variant of all. I wonder if you can get your LDV Pilot 'superchipped' up to 90bhp or something?

That does look straight, but...

Direct from council

So it might not have led all that easy a life...
