Honda PAS

The power steering pump on the Accord has been getting rather whiny of late. I checked the fluid level and sure enough it's low - looked in the handbook re topping up and it said "use genuine Honda PSF only - using ATF or another brand of fluid will result in the death of thousands of kittens". Is there any truth to this or is it more money-making bo11ox? And if it is true, where can one obtain this miracle fluid without being dry bummed by a Honda dealer?

I've used ATF/PSF in the past to top up with no ill effects on mine.

It says use Honda PSF or check at the motor factors for fluid that is used in Hondas - problems have been known to occur after using standard fluid. Fact: The power steering system can run to 2000psi.

I'm not sure how accurate this site is but try entering your number plate in the Comma oils site, they recoken they can recommend what oil you need.
