Pug 504 coupe or ute curiosity!

Firstly credit goes to Brett in Otago [sth Island] who posted these photos up on Classic Scrapyard Finds on Faecesbook..a Peugeot 504 conundrum he spotted..

 

 

I know the Francos built this style on several marques..but i thought it was quite funny the Peugeot New Zealand decided to take a risk with this..

Ive talked Brett into coming over to this shite side cos his shite spotting is impeccable..Otago is rust lush..

I've spotted some 504 oddities in Thailand, but this is a new one on me, and I have to say I rather like it, practically useless as it may be!

I have never seen anything like that

they have moved the standard C pillar forward a couple of feet and lost the rear doors

seems a bit pointless as the normal 504 coupe is such a beautiful thing

What he said! This thing is incredibly daft (which probably is good for autoshite diversity, but still...). Maybe it was an in-house prototype before the work was sent to pininfarina?

Peugeot were assembled here ..in Franklin ..so its one of their creations..theres a minty Citroen Light 15 locally that is built in the same style..its so ridiculous i love it

Got to be home-brew. Look closely, and you can see the vertical line where the trailing edge of the welded-up rear door has been filled.

 

I likes it, though - reminds me of the swoopy Peugeot 402 coupes of the 1930s:
