(Fotopic.net)- now Flickr with Sherpa alert

I know that several of you have photos hosted on the web on various sites, does anyone else have their's hosted on fotopic.net? I'm asking as I can't get into the site and therefore get at my photos :(

It looks as if has gone down the tube:

I'm rather pissed off with this as there has been no contact from Fotopic and my photos are presumably lost somewhere in cyberspace  I've got the originals still, so in one way I haven't lost anything, but the Fotopic car event ones and especially the local history ones have the only record of their date which rather reduces their usefulness.

If the worst comes to the worst, does anyone know of a (hopefully) reliable alternative where I can have collections of photos grouped under general themes, rather than just a number of folders all at the same level?

Any useful comments/information/advice will be rewarded with the customary virtual pint at the Autoshite Arms :D:)

flickr is good and offers all of the above, you have to pay for a subscription for over 200 photos though.

I had about 6000 shots of Fotopic, all now gone; it went arse for tit when Joel Rowbottom sold it. I've heard rumblings from his camp but nothing confirmed yet...

I have now finally got round to opening a Flickr account and loading the first few photos. As a little thank you to those who gave advice, and all Sherpa lovers everywhere, here's an expedition-spec Convoy that's accidentally crept into a coastal view :D

You are DR Who and I claim my £10

This photo was taken on December 31, 2050 using a Fujifilm A860.

When you run out of space on Flickr, just set up another account with a new hotmail address. Or try Photobucket, I find it great, and easy to use, seemingly limitless storage now. Perhaps it grows over time. It's versatile, quick and pictures come out whatever size you want, from avatar size to poster size. Also GR9 for hosting unlimited photos for eBay listings :)

I also use Picasa as a back-up, you can set it up to upload automatically from your computer, but it is a bit tedious when finding addresses for a spotting thread, and I can't seem to get them out just the right size.

I had to re-learn all this, because when I first started, I put everything into Photobox on somebody's recommendation. What a crock of crap that turned out to be. Once I had 20+plus pages of a densely packed spottings thread posted, the b'stards started randomly changing the addresses so my pictures wouldn't show. Avoid at all costs.

Photobucket is where it's at. (Until they decide otherwise!)

Rather than bugger about with multiple hosting sites you could just pay flickr the tiny amount of money it takes to go up to unlimited pictures.

Should you be too much of a skinflint too pay then set up a flickr group in your own name(or any other), set membership to invite only and get into the habit of putting pictures in the group as soon as you upload them.

That means that as you upload pictures (always putting them in the Alfisti group) the first 200 will be visible on your photostream and in the Alfisti group. Once you breach that number only the most recent will be visible on your photostream but all will be available in the Alfisti group.

Well copper wire was invented when an Aberdonian and a Yorkshireman were arguing over a penny.
