scooters Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 Can you get the existing one re-cored? might have to come to that - hopefully not - it is a rolling resto and I need it as i will be taking the BX off the road in a couple of weeks as its MOT expires and it needs a serious amount of work..
M'coli Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Have you got a photo of it? Something of a similar configuration could be jury-rigged in place for a week or two while the original gets re-cored.
Barry Cade Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Anything like this?: http://www.radiatorshop.net/products/au ... 17-benzine
scooters Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 Anything like this?: http://www.radiatorshop.net/products/au ... 17-benzine that could be it - I'll need to confirm the location of the expansion tank pipe and the dimensions but that could be it - thanks Tiff
Richard Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I've had a radiator recored inside a day before, it's definitely worth looking into.
bangers & mash Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Give Serck Marston a try. Serck Marston28a Nethercommon Industrial Es, Inchinnan Road,Paisley, UK, PA3 2RD 0141 887 6914
chester drawers Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I've been very happy with the service from here. The radiator and condenser I wanted were not listed in his shop, but my questions were answered in a matter of minutes and the goods arrived the next morning. Very reasonably priced they were too.

gearoil Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Scooters, your in Edinburgh...? Try: UNION RADIATORSUNIT 5, LADYSMILL INDUSTRIAL ESTATE FK1 1RR FALKIRK , STIRLINGSHIRE Phone: 01324 628196 ( got my XR4x4 rad repaired here) or if you want a jaunt along the M8... http://www.star-radiators.co.uk/about%20us.html
scooters Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 brilliant - thanks folks you have all been very helpful and it give me loads of options. I've been quoted nigh on £100 form the big radiator companies so if I can either find a cheaper one or get mine repaired for less than that I'd be very happy indeed - as with everyone - cash is tight!
Richard Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Try the Yellow Pages to find an independent local company, they'll probably be cheaper and closer than the big ones.
