Moderns do rot, just a bit slower than older cars of the 70's and 80's.

The K11 is testament to that. How many have mahosssivly phailed their MOT due to front cross-member frillyness?

I vote late 80s/early 90s Honda Civic. Insane fun yet great on fuel. They can rot though, but I'm starting to think that 'modern cars don't rot' is a load of rubbish anyway. Saw a Mk3 Golf today and I could see straight through the sills!

 

Equally bad are mid-late 90's VW Polo's, especially one the wheel arches and doors, and K11 Mircas too as FT knows.

Furry muff, I can see the appeal of the VTS over the Fiesta but that interior is vomit inducing though...

Why not? A 60bhp small hatchback would be the ideal replacement for a 60bhp small hatchback that the owner is bored with.

 

The Xsara's interior isn't that bad.

the moderns mentioned that rot are hardly modern though!

 

punto hgt is not a bad shout but watch out for buggered engines and failed power steering,but i suppose it comes down to your budget.

You havent seen the vile assortment of colours that Nissan chose to bedeck the K11 Mk2/phase2 in have you? Meerkat vomit, septic toe and burst appendix are all colours on the Nissan palate.
