25v6turbo Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 A friend of mine has a really nice original V6 Laguna, its super clean but has a problem with the front screen..Its a bonded ,heated screen and the problem he has is that its slightly laminated(turned white)along the top edgeNow he doesn,t want to get the screen changed as its the original with the etching etc from new,and his insurance company won,t pay for it,he actually has a genuine NOS spare but every windscreen place wants a fortune to fit it..So has anyone got around this problem??The only thing i was thinking is to remove the trims and inject black glass paint somehow(maybe with a injection needle)between the glass layers??Anyone else solved this problem?
Pillock Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 You can't solve it, the delamination is permanent. Black glass paint will surely just change the issue from white to black..?!Ask a few local garages and bodyshops, they often have a mate at a windscreen place that can do stuff on the side. It'll often be a case of your own risk though, if the screen breaks then they'll walk away.
Station Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Try other places you're trying to fit your windscreen.
Pillock Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 It might be a problem you've already reported it to the insurance company and they've refused, but if you're willing to throw rocks at the screen until it breaks they can't really argue for long
