Is anyone interested in a Rover 75 V6?

I'm posting this up on behalf of a member of a Vauxhall Forum I use.

The member's father has just bought a newer car and his son (the member) is thinking of stripping it, but wanted to offer it complete first of all.

The reason he is thinking of breaking it is that after the hard frosts, it has started to overheat. It will reportedley tick over for as long as you want with no problems, but as soon as its driven it begins to get warm.

A garage have looked over it and dont think its the HG.

I am aware of the horrific bills these types of Rover can generate however.

It has had a respray 8 months ago so is bodily excellent. I will find out the mileage.

Here are some pictures. Car is located in South Lanarkshire:

I will of course find out how much he wants for it also.

It would probably end up getting fragged through that. Just in case anyone thought otherwise before it gets stripped for parts.

That colour coded grille looks smart, it's a bit like the Rover 75 Sport concept

It's the water pump. Plastic impellers on these, and if the coolant around the pump freezes, you start the engine up and the pump spindle revolves as the impellet stays put in the ice. Idling, it will behave but put any revs on it and the impeller will hget left behind.

I bet a pump is a right bastard though. Would be tempting for a couple of hundred squid.

Another guy on the Vauxhall forum also said the waterpump. Dunno how much/hard that would be to replace on one of these.

I will ask again how much he wants for it.

Pump is apparently half an hours work, (on top of doing a belt job) but while you're doing it, you might as well change the cambelts again, and that's the painful bit - seems to be at least a £600 job.

Wonder how much work is involved in fitting a Perkins Prima...
