VERY RARE PROTON in need of RESCUE NOW! Colchester

This will be in the crusher if nobody comes forward to save it. Looks like it was a minter before the accident. It is in a salvage yard in Colchester. Full marks to them for not crushing it on arrival which is the normal treatment Protons get.

Its a standard Proton 1.5GL 12v which PROTON UK have turned into their own LYNX special edition.

The extent of the conversion amounts to LYNX stickers on bodywork, a GRP bodykit from Silver Knight plastics comprising front and rear aprons, side skirts, a tailgate spoiler with high-level brake light and lower door mouldings.

Alloy wheels produced specially for Proton UK with Proton logo in centre and PROTON word moulded into the the alloy rim.

I HAVE ALL THE PARTS REQUIRED TO FIX THIS, but it is at the other end of the country to me, and I already have 2 Protons. I will let the parts go extremely cheap to anyone who can save this rare car.

If nothing else, the body kit and alloy wheels MUST be saved from this car. Maybe someone more local can remove and store them in time.

Blimey. I might just step up here. I built those.....

How reasonable are the parts you have? And do you have all required....

My old neighbour had the exact one of them...same bodykit, colour and everything. Absolutely mint it was...but her so called 'mechanic' convinced her to buy a Y reg Micra cos it was easier to get parts. I'm sure he 'nicked' it off her for a paltry sum.

A real blast from the past, didnt know these went fast enough to cause that much damage?

I've got bonnet, headlamp, front panel (if required - looks like it may straighten) in mint condition. Front valance and wing I have with slight rust to the corners. I could get them repaired up here ready for paint at your end. I think I've got one bumper like that from the 12v which is mint, and one slightly different one from the old 8v model which has some rust behind the number plate and a slight dent under one indicator. Either of those would do. I've got mint condition indicator, grille and plastic garnish piece from under the light.

None of my parts are in the right colour though, so they'd all need painting one way or another.

Youd have to repair the front skirt with some fibreglass which should not be very difficult. Looks like it has split near the number plate, but its still in one piece. The foglight lens I don't have as they are not a standard part. They are European parts, fitted in this country by Proton UK. I think the same fog lamp is used on early Renault Clios.

My parts would need collecting from Thirsk in North Yorks. I can't fit a bonnet in my car to move it anywhere, thats why it will have to be collection only.
