Electric Leyland Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 If anyone's in the Stevenage area today, and you know where the big new Mercedes Benz garage is (Gunnels Wood Road), check out the car park round the back. Right at the front of the silver and black sea of German cars, a pristine, white, W reg Talbot Tagora! Likely to be there all day at least. I pass this place every day, and since it's recent opening they've ahd all sorts of classics round the back, DB6, Charger, Lancia Monte Carlo, etc, usually one is centrepiece in the showroom. Are they really going to be putting a Tagora in it? Where the arrow is:http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=522922&y=223885&z=1&sv=522922,223885&st=4&ar=Y&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srfHave taken photo, will upload tonight. What a start to the week
MrRegieRitmo Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Used to be, but now about 80 miles away! Is it for sale?
Electric Leyland Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 Can't tell yet, don't know if it's a member of staff's car or a potential car for sale, but the DB6 they had in last week was definitely for sale (£80k with 12 months warranty etc, concours) so there is a good chance. Will go and investigate today..... and if so will ask for a test drive. God I think I'd actually sh1t myself.
MrRegieRitmo Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Mind you if it's being treated as a pristine pampered classic it probably won't be cheap!
Volksy Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Blimey! Where are they all coming from?Thats four is as many weeks. The two Ebay ones, the one in aleds thread, and now this one..Either their more common than we thought, or they are pretty much all the remaining ones in the UK...
MrRegieRitmo Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 EL if you're floating about round that way, how about checking if that R14 is still there in Hitchin.....http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=519626&y=230311&z=1&sv=woolgrove+road&st=6&tl=Woolgrove+Road,+Hitchin,+Hertfordshire,+SG4&searchp=newsearch.srf&mapp=newmap.srfIt's about level with between the railway line & where that High Dane road meets Woolgrove road. Should be sat mouldering away in a driveway.
Electric Leyland Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 Bit tricky at the moment Regie as I'm confined to cycling and trains at the moment. Hope to get the Audi back on the road soon so will go and check it out then. Sounds like it won't have been driven away
AXrescuer Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I work in Stevenage, I'll try and have a look-see in the morning.
Electric Leyland Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 Behold!! ...... (apologies for poor quality cameraphone pics and long range zoom from t'other side of big security fence.... Talbot Tagora Didn't have time to go in and enquire, will try tomorrow. And will take proper camera for better qual pix. VGA800W I think it was.
MrRegieRitmo Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Splendid! The rear section has a hint of Solara meets Hyundai Stellar
Mr Lobster Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 That looks ace! Where is the sudden Tagora invasion coming from?!

Well spotted EL.
reallyloud Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Amazing to see this blundering white elephant of car in its natural habitat. I recall the interior plastics having the quality of a christmas cracker toy - wonderful. wonderful.
michiel Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Ooh, a nice Lotus Elite. Have you got more pics of that... WHO CARES! Tagora!!!
Electric Leyland Posted April 1, 2008 Author Posted April 1, 2008 Awww it's blumming gone. Did manage to speak to the security guard about it though. It apparently belongs to one of the members of staff, it's one of the cars in his rather large classics collection. Not for sale.So there's a good chance it will be back some time soon and I'll get better pics, now have a new camera about my person at all times. Wonder what else will show up in weeks to come? As I mentioned, the DB6 and a Bobby Ewing Merc have both appeared fior sale in the showroom, but a turquoise Lancia Monte Carlo, pre-A reg Mini (ie Austin 7) and a black jazzed-up Santa Pod stylee Dodge Charger have appeared in a simar area of the car park (away from the new Mercs), probably from this guy's collection, so who knows!
MrRegieRitmo Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Could you pass the owner an A-S business card?
Guest Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Sorry to hijack the thread slightly but while Talbot love is in the air heres some more Tagora pic's courtesy of flickr member estoril-thanks for letting me use them
michiel Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Bloke on a Dutch forum said he was offered this Tagora for 4000 pounds some six months ago. Owner had about 40 Simcas and Talbots (3 Tags) - sound familiar?
AXrescuer Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 It must have been moved. I was over there at 7 this morning and the Tagora was nowhere to be seen!
MrRegieRitmo Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 It must have been moved. I was over there at 7 this morning and the Tagora was nowhere to be seen! Yes, see Electric Leyland's post 4 above yours. It's naffed off somewhere
Mash Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 It's a very early one on a W-reg. Not keen on the vinyl roof at all but it looks in mint condition.
MrRegieRitmo Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 When did they finish? On Y reg? They weren't around for long at all were they!
Electric Leyland Posted April 3, 2008 Author Posted April 3, 2008 It's back!!!!! Will take better quality pics forthwith.
Electric Leyland Posted April 6, 2008 Author Posted April 6, 2008 Well it was back again on Friday as well so as promised here's some better quality pics. Can't get into the security paddock hence same angles. Good nick innit?
Milford Cubicle Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 What a stunner! It's amazing somebody would keep a Tagora in that condition, let alone a boggo-spec one.
