Anyone got a head unit I can borrow....?

As title really. The all-singing, all-dancing head unit in my Golf has stopped throwing music to the rear right speaker. I've checked all the wiring which is fine, and then I've tried plugging the rear right speaker wires into another speaker (it's all on bullets behind the dash, so I can swap pairs around). Still nothing.

This, to me, suggests that my 4 month old head unit is buggered. Before I march into Argos and throw it at them, could anyone let me borrow a heat unit with an ISO connection on the back so I can see if my wiring is indeed up to scratch? I'll happily drive to you at a time convenient to yourself, hence somewhere east-midlandsy would be great :)

I've got the one I got off you still, was it all ISO'd up? It's available if you need it :)

An old trick is to dab a 9v battery across the speaker cables and the speaker will "pop".

You can also use this to identify speaker cables when they are all cut or unmarked, if the +- on the battery is the same as the +- on the speaker then the speaker cone pulses forward. If it is wrong then the cone pulls back.

Saves hours of tracing :-)

Aaaah, that's not a bad plan! I'll do that before I make anyone rip their stereo out :)

Mike, thanks but it was a JVC connector to bare wires on that :)
