OOh, two very evenly matched contenders and difficult to choose between them. I'd love to own an Ital...a top of the range HLS jobby preferably.

 

Interesting that both cars were 'warmed over' versions of other cars (Alpine and Marina) and that neither marque survived after the mid-eighties.

 

If Solara wins this I reckon it's unbeatable in the middleweight category

Ah, but I think Stanzas and Itals are shit, but I'd have a Solara because, to me, a Solara is shite I'd roll. I find it fun when other people have Stanzas or Itals, but I dread the thought of going in one for more than a few hundred yards and I certainly don't want one.

 

Having said that, that early Marina TC Auto in purple amused me enough to make an offer on it. He's not selling, but if he changes his mind I've got dibs on it. Needless to say it'll be up for grabs nanoseconds after I actually drive it anywhere.

 

The whole "Shit or Shite" thing causes loads of dilemmas doesn't it? I like my Autoshite to be stuff that's unpopular but better than its average contemporary. Renault 30s, BXs, Pug 604s, Alfa 164s, SD1s, weird Euro-spec Fords, Strada Abarths, Mirafioris etc, but I love some of the shite that ends up in the ebay tat thread. I've been close to bidding on far too much of that stuff.

 

On the other hand, I love the fact there are people on here who'll happily rescue shabby old Maxis and Reliant Rebels. Jon's Amazon is ace, and the Cholmondely attendees all turned up in amusing stuff and spent most of the day taking the piss out of the MGB club.

 

So, I've voted for the one I wouldn't want, but find it amusing that someone on here probably has one.
