seth Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Since our attendance at this new "festival" was thanks to a post on here by Fred I figure I'll stick up some pictures here first. We weren't really quite sure what to expect but for the most part the organisation seemed pretty good though there were issues in some areas. Still, it was a sometimes quite surreal mix of various subcultures who celebrate particular eras in history in their own way. Cars were not the focus (music and fashion were I suppose) but there was plenty relating to vehicles around the place. A couple o' campsite shots. There was a big (relatively!) display of microcars by the entrance. This was defintely a Ford based special but anyone any idea as to make? They'd built a high street across the field, complete with pub, cinema and various shops. Some of the auction line up. I took these photos before it opened on the Friday, when I went in to clean the Hillman up. This guy was painting the Abbey Road studios zebra crossing with an hour or so to go 'til opening. This recently restored Mobile Cinema was just awesome! Found in a dilapidated state on a farm it had taken 4-5 years to do. Interior used genuine cast iron '30s cinema seats. The '80s line up was the most shite. The Hillman was supposed to be in a group of 70's cars but there was nothing properly 70's tastic really. I "dressed" the interior with some period stuff. Don't know if anyone noticed... There were lots of period caravans about the place. Some '60s cars. With an SD1 in the middle. Shoulda been in the '70s bit really. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_036.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_037.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_047.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_048.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_049.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_051.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_059.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_060.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_064.jpg VW was covered in blackboard paint and was drawn on all weekend. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_065.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_093.jpg WHy oh why oh why did I not buy this http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_096.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_098.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_105.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_106.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_108.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_109.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_115.jpg Bo110x haulage Ltd, Peterborough 3477774 http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_116.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_122.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_125.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_127.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_128.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_129.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_131.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_133.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Classics%2010/GoodwoodVintage/Goodwoodvintage_142.jpg We just caught the last half hour or so of The Chap Olympiad. Hertz Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 That looks like a fantastic and well organised event. Love the cinema
ChinaTom Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 That looked like a lot of fun. Must make the effort to go to that next year (assuming it's an annual event). I imagine being March would be a right hoot. Had the pleasure of chatting to him once (at the first ever Revival) and he does seem to be a pretty decent chap.
barrett Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 [This was defintely a Ford based special but anyone any idea as to make?Rochdale GT! Thanks for these snaps, i'm gonna go and check out the rest of them in a minute. I was dancing with a girl on friday who had been working here as a model in the 40s fashion show, she said it was loads of fun.
CIH Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 My boss at work got himself a late 80s Espirit. Series 3, I think ? Anyway he should have got an s1. They're awesome looking things. And and Seth = Gets Around
dollywobbler Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 That's Keith Adams' SD1, driven by Mr Scruff of this parish - so we know who to blame for the parking... Great pics. Looks like a really cool event.
seth Posted August 22, 2010 Author Posted August 22, 2010 so we know who to blame for the parking... Well, to be fair, there was no one really organising it. I drove around on the Thursday evening looking for some seventies cars, couldn't find any so called the only number I had. He said to go down to the Soul Disco area and someone would be there. Someone was there but he didn't really know what to do with me. I think they've had a lot of feedback on all sorts of things and next year could be a real corker. We chatted to the guys who had organised the old caravan displays so if we decide to have a go again next year we might be able to blag it with the Campavan CIH, no point sitting on our arses all summer! Barrett, I think the name Rochdale had sprung to my mind but I wasn't sure so thanks for the ID C-T I reckon March thought I was following him. Kept bumping in to him. Not literally...

To be fair I did turn up at stupid o clock on Thursday night but I left the keys with them so they could have moved it. Your Hillman looked ace and I did notice the interior.
trigger Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I saw a thread of photos from the show on RR last week, I showed Mrs Trigger who insisted that we must go next year!, She never does that!, I think it was all the dressing up and retro shops there which she loves. I'd love to go to it too, I recoken next year will be packed though as it takes a while for word to get around.

One thing that did concern me looking at the other photos was how everyone was able to walk past all the cars on display, I'd be worried if someone who's pissed would end up damaging one.
scruff Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I was a bit worried about that too but when I turned up to collect it and fumbled with the keys, security swooped pretty damn sharpish. It was an ace event and I'm looking forward to the next one.
trigger Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 That's strange, I managed to post twice there, How do you delete a post?, I can't see on option to do it?.

I assume that got you entry for the day and that nights music performances, for which I would have said it was well worth it if you compare to the price of a cinema ticket or football or whatever. I was a bit concerned about security (though the Hillman was hardly the most valuable vehicle there). I would have been more worried if the car had been where the hot rods were, very close to the main stage where thousands would have been congregating each evening. A fair proportion of people there were enthusiasts of old stuff of one sort or another and so I think there was a lot of mutual respect. The atmosphere was very chilled out. Not like how I imagine a usual drunken music type festival is.
reallyloud Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Brilliant selection of shots. Seems to have been some half decent bands too - I can't think of a better event if you fancy something a bit more civilised. I try and do one festival a year - but I think if I'm just going to do one festival next year this would be ideal. I looked at the line up, and there was a good mix of artist (I would have loved to have seen The Damned, Cymande, Geno Washington & Buzzcocks) but I reckon next year will be better.
barrett Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Hey I found a picture of that bird I was talking about posing next to a Mustang! I have internet stalking skillz! I should've made more of an effort to pull her I think
