Is this the same engine as clio v6? My friend said the same about the valve cover gaskets only available with the cover. Nightmare to find.

That's the one. ES9 in PSA, also known as L7X in Renaults. Absolute madness. 😄

Crazy that a badly leaking valve cover gasket could lay one up.

I've found tiger seal to be excellent with oil. I stuck the sump pan back on a leaky 1.6 vauxhall once and it never leaked again (never had to come off again either which could have been a struggle)

Big fat bead all around and just stick the rocker covers down forever!

Basically, the car equivalent of:

Ungrateful bastard. 🥲

Booked for round 2 of trying to find what’s wrong next week. Were coils and plugs mismatched because someone else was chasing the same thing and laid up because he gave up? I could ask the previous owner, he doesn’t strike me like the guy that would bullshit me. Sadly he doesn’t strike like the guy that would know what was wrong with the car either.

It’s sitting in the naughty corner to think about its actions. Didn’t try starting it today or yesterday to see if it decided it’s fine now like it did the last time. Now thinking of it, deciding to behave rather than being consistently faulty would probably be more annoying, as it would make it much harder to diagnose.
