Good grief - 16k miles?!

They're quite peppy motors, but even the 2-litre refuses to deliver anything you could usefully call torque. The 1.6 must need a rather enthusiastic approach to driving.

That is a bit of a weirdy.

I wonder if it was originally registered in the ROI where car tax is based on cubic capacity.

possibly, I have seen one with windy windows, but never 1.6 and never a 2wd legacy, impreza yes, but not legacy

Most UK market ones are, as that is/was Subaru's unique selling point here, but you could get all kinds of 2WD Subarus abroad.

I used to sell loads and loads of justy 4x4s, couldnt get enough of them, we still get asked for them from time to time, subaru have re introduced the justy, guess what? it's 2wd ???????

The first imprezas were available with a 1.6 2wd, all the other were 4x4, the legacy here was only 1.8, 2.0 or 2.2 and all were 4x4, with some part time ones but most full time , the estates had a low box, turbos and saloons did not. THe previous "l" series were also available it 1.6 2wd, all te rest were selectable 4x4.....I think.

The new Justy is a Daihatsu Sirion in all but name isn't it? It's a pity they don't offer a four-wheel drive version as there's bound to be a 4WD Sirion for the Japanese market.

You could also buy an L-series '1.8 GTi' with 2WD, and some of the turbo models had permanent 4WD.

Subaru's model range was baffling in the 1980s.

Was the last Justy a Suzuki Swift? however it did come with 4WD IIRC

It's called Boon over there, you can get a 4WD version but inexplicably only on the 1.0 engine and only with an autobox.

Technically the Boon X4 has 4WD and a manual box, but that doesn't really count as it's a weird turbo homologation special type thing for rallying. Would have sold well to the sort of people who bought Charade GTtis/Cuore TR-XXs, but the current Daihatsu UK owners don't seem to enjoy selling cars.

Had a 1.8 GTI L series 2wd,awesomely quick but that may have been due to the inbuilt weight reduction (rusty floor/sills/wings)

Recently sold a '94 1.6 2wd impreza with 208k onthe clock still going strong :D

Never seen a 1.6 Legacy before though......... :?
