Car repair info on t'interweb

Most people on here probably have at least a smattering of knowledge of how to fix and service their car.

I'm very much in the beginners stage of all that but, having been trawling the web, I've found some useful info out there, including:

The Fast Ford magazine site. Some of it of no interest to shiters, but their info. seems OK to my untrained eye:

http://www.fastfordmag.co.uk/category/tech/

This site, which seems to contain most of Toyota's training manual for their US mechanics:

http://www.autoshop101.com/autoshop15.html

Are these any good, and does anyone know of any more useful sites?

You never know, it may keep some of us from the clutches of the HBoL.

I usually join a one make forum and ask on there about specific faults/problems or just read through as most are very helpful and there's usually always a few who've had the same problems and know how to fix them.

+1

Whenever I'm stumped, I've always found the answer this way :)

+ another 1.

I spend hours trawling various forums looking for answers when I'm on the train somewhere. It's the only way to run some of the cars I buy, because there's no way I'm just gonna pay for a garage or mechanic to try and find the answer when it's available for free.

I always try to confirm the answer before I do undertake some mad repair. Check whatever answers you get and then check out the chap who's given the answer. There are a lot of hopeless cases out there who think they know how to fix stuff and give long, detailed, 'how to' tutorials that seem really good and clear but turn out to be wrong. Normally a few months later you'll find "Ah, I did this and it worked for a week" posts following up.

The most comprehensive car repair info site I've found on the web:

http://www.aa1car.com/library.htm

The info is centred on US models, but there's reams of useful info for us lot here in the UK as well.
