Have you got a knob missing?

OOO er missis! Talking radios here.......

Got a perfectly good period Pioneer cassette radio out of one of the scrappers, but it had a knob missing. Fitted it anyway, and looked for something to replace the missing knob. Tried bottle tops of all kinds, temp had one off a coke bottle stuffed with blu tac but it was a tiny bit big. Then I bought some apple juice from Iceland (other supermarkets are available!) and thought the top would be perfect to replace the missing knob on the stereo. It was. I packed it with epoxy repair putty (a bit like chemical metal) and after putting some grease on the post for the knob (steady!!) left it to set. I then pulled it off and sprayed it with black bumper and trim paint. Did both of them so they match.......

So apart from the other bits that I already had in, the knobs only cost me £1.50 for the tops! Call me fussy but I do like me knobs to match.

End of double antendre!

Neat Job Fred....I never thought of that a solution to my missing knobs

That looks good! I suppose even if the match wasn't good enough, all you had to do was buy another carton of apple juice.

Good tip - and a very nice radio cassette too.

I've got 4 knobs. One flat and black that goes into 5 places, one round and black that goes in and out, one yellow that you push down, and a red one that has a thick shaft, that goes backwards and forwards. All of which make lots of noises.

well that's just greedy. Retro is that a bit too good for a builder's pick up then? I though it was a 70s job, so could have been second hand in the 80s.....

Excellent stuff, looks well.

Those exact lids can be used to cure the high clutch pedal on Rovers/MGs with the R65 box. Chop a slot in the side, and slip in between the release arm and the nipple (I'm doing it now too!)

Have you been looking at my internet browsing history?

Well, they are pretty sought after now especially being a Pioneer unit. It would fetch a few quid on fleabay.

Even with me replacement knobs? I have another radio I could put in the tipper. Roughly how old is it?
