Year: 1994 (M Reg)

Mileage: 74k miles

Tax: 5 months

MOT: 6 months

Location: 10 minutes from M40 J2, Buckinghamshire

Price: £1,650ono

Contact details: PM or 0-7-9-2-1-8-6-1-2-4-9

Spec: Ice cold, fully working air conditioning - cleaned and re-gassed 9 months ago, electric windows, electrical folding mirrors, central locking operated by alarm remote control, Toad alarm, power steering, everything works.

Mods: Blueflame stainless steel exhaust (cat retained so no problems come MoT time), K&N style air filter, MR2 Turbo engine lid, front and rear strut braces. All original parts are in good condition and will be sold with the car.

ICE: JVC CD/Tuner with MP3 input, Infinity Reference mids and tweeters (in original locations, nothing chopped or drilled to fit), 2 x 10" Infinity subs in custom enclosures behind seats (nothing chopped or drilled to fit), American Legacy amp in boot, original electric aerial. Sounds amazing, loud, bassy, punchy and very clear. The ICE is not included in the asking price but can be retained subject to agreement.

Bodywork: Regularly polished with Autoglym High Gloss, the paintwork shines with no fading. No rust or scratches. Very tiny crease in front off side wheel arch, but I mean tiny. Unmarked alloys.

Interior: All standard and in great condition. Headlining and carpet unmarked. Man in Dandism mats. No wear on seats, no stains and no smells.

Mechanically: Perfect. Engine starts first time, every time. Oil and filter recently replaced. Gearbox fluid replaced a couple of months ago. One recent wheel bearing. Drives perfect, goes like stink, sounds lovely and is 100% reliable. Four good tyres, all have at least 6mm+ tread.

Documents: Some old MoTs, V5 in my name with no nasty additional information, owner's handbook. Copy of Practical Classics magazine with a photo of my MR2 (number plate clearly visible).

Reason for sale: I have a W123 230E Mercedes and I recently bought a W126 300SE Mercedes and my wife has her car (just a boring Renault Megane) and we don't need 4 cars. I have a 5 month old son and the three of us cannot enjoy the MR2 together.

However: I can afford to keep the MR2 and will not give it away for peanuts so no silly offers please. The MR2 is in excellent condition and does not require any immediate servicing or repairs. This is my 5th MR2 in 10 years and I haven't seen one this clean for a long time. Never abused, properly maintained and still ohh so pretty.

there are downsides to having kids...

I'd rather have Charlie than the MR2.

Oh yeh, for sure!! I just meant if I didn't have my daughter I'd love your car!

Looks like a nice one. What engine options did these have? (and what's this one?)

2.0, four cylinder, fuel injected, 175BHP,

4 speed auto with overdrive.

Nothing to do with the sale, but why are 90% of mk.2 MR2s red?

Posted

Because red MR2s look like Ferraris!

Since taking your kind advice I have offered the MR2 for sale on here, RR and a couple of classic car forums.

An ad will appear on the MR2 club website later today.

What next? Do I bother with EBay? I've been lucky before, all my cars sold although a couple went for peanuts when I didn't set a reserve. Trouble is, by setting a reserve people are less likely to have a punt as they feel that they won't get a bargain.

Autotrader? Probably a safe bet for £20.
