Mr. P's Peugeot 106

My driving instructor had a 1.1 litre 106, and I agree about the pedal spacing. I wore my size 8 Vans skate shoes to my first driving lesson, and kept getting my left foot caught under the brake pedal when releasing the clutch pedal. Was fine with a narrower style of shoe, but I've not experienced that in any of the cars I've owned since passing my test 20 years ago.

They're good cars though, my instructors was also basic but was a good learner car, and my granddad had a string of them and used to travel all over the place.

I absolutely love mine - a few simple things like roll bar bushes and carb fettling has made it an absolute delight. It’s a fantastic combo of small and zippy in town, fun on the twisties and happy to cruise on the motorway too. An car - more like THE car!

single teachers... they see security in a 106 owner and English heritage sticker

Dunno about that, even the teachers that ain't single can be horny smutters.

At my sons school I've had two directly try to hit on me (one tried many times) the other literally told me directly to my face she'd been waiting for so long to meet me and was so excited to 'finally' meet me - and she repeated this at least 6 times very excitedly (I didn't really give her the reaction she was looking for and she was rather glum towards me after that). Another would look over and smile daily and when news broke that I got myself a van, she was straight out with a Vans T-Shirt on the next day with a massive smile looking straight at me. Oh yes there's also the receptionist who is always so overly friendly towards me too.

I kid you not, my sons primary school has been a very odd experience for me. I once used to think nothing but badness about my looks and how women saw me but my sons school has been a total eye opener. Both head teachers are / were well aware of who I am, the staff room certainly saw me as the topic of conversation many times too. It gets weirder when you hear other teachers discussing you behind your back and how you "let down" one of the other teachers.

Weirder still, my sons best friends mum is a teacher and ended up WORKING there too for 1.5 years - how on earth none of this has come back on me at home I've no idea (not that I did anything but as mentioned above, when you hear teachers discussing you behind your back for letting one of their colleagues down a few years back you know you have daggers drawn at you). Honestly I never thought it but primary school full of younger teachers are dangerous places.

You've got the wrong username then. I mean with your smouldering good looks and various milf mummies wanting to lay you "rustynuts" just gives off an air of "I've 'ad all the crumpet I need in me life, now my "life making" tools need a rest"

My old man bought one of these brand new in 1998, it was the same spec but in metallic red.  He traded in our problem child 1989 Seat Ibiza 1.2XL for it.

We got a funky Peugeot Independence Rucksack with it, which has now been around the world with me a few times and still use to this day.

As mentioned only issue with these, and also the Saxo is the pedal size, when you've big feet it's easy to press all the pedals at once. But they really did make the Mk1 Ibiza seem really stodgy in comparison. The fossils had several years happy motoring in it, including a few jaunts down to Spain. It was traded in for a Honda Jazz in 2002, I think it survived a few years afterwards.

They are a cracking little car, I bought my ex-fella a 106 Zest, which was even more basic. Which he thrashed around Sheffield until the clutch gave up, that ended up going to a grasstracker.

Thats cos my "life making" tools as you put it, do need a rest... in fact that is exactly why I chose the username in the first place - cos they're knackered.

It ain't my fault that the ladies keep taking a shine to me is it. I'm just posting a warning to the lads on this board.. school teachers are trouble! I can't be bothered with all that chasing after fanny business, I'm past it.
