I can modify the thickness of them if need be... and they have compliance to take the slight curve of the boot/hatch pressing.

Stainless fittings & nylocks

We Will See πŸ”§πŸ˜‰

I bet compared to your last three cars this is transformational in how far you two can get out comfortably.

Having given some serious consideration of 'just fitting p/w ££'... remembering ALL used cars come with 4x p/w!!

I folded and retreated to my 'GoTo' guys @ATS Wallsend. Sorted me well on MrGetz..

Β£318 @4x Kumhos, fitting 8:30 Fri morn πŸš€

I will break out my 'nut lock key', in boot well.... And I'll try a crack at loosening the lockers a creak πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈ

Not keen on 'Sail-straighton' Sailwin fronts πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Hasn't been raining thus far..... SlideyFactor as yet an unknown.

Exceptionally quiet 😊

.... I think they may be 'overfilled' as, notwithstanding my newly fettled EPAS, the steering is light as a feather 🎈

During MrGetz residency I complained there was no temp gauge.... just 'idiot light' πŸ˜•

I purchased a temp display/sensor but never deployed it.....

I'm deffo going to do something with AVAS, another 'idiot light'.... Astras have history around overheating 😯

I'm going to do a 'non invasive'/ no wiring into the cabin trial....

Β

IMG_20240923_115416.jpg

The sensor will be located on the plastic neck + duct tape and the gauge set up loose on the scuttle somewhere...

I will use the 'hidden/second menu' to get the actual water temperature and compare that to the gauge display.

A reading +/- a couple of degs will suffice.... Change is significant!!

More to follow πŸ˜‰

Strange fish.... πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Seems, when I raise the rear hatch, the number plate lights come on... in daylight/no sidelights. Also noticed one is duff πŸ˜•

Dive into my 'onboard rummage space' and fish out 1 W5W bulb = sorted βœ”οΈ

Car not saying 'bulb out'.... Hmmm πŸ€”

I've got a couple of LED W5W (for the high line brake lamp, fitted into SuziQ!) so I'm going to fit them [brighter] and presumably the draw amps won't upset anyone....

EML/running on 3 1/2 πŸ€ͺ.....

Phoned local garage [did my belts] and dropped it off for Vauxhall Tech2 plug in, car ran 3 miles after EML only.

Coilpack duff.... Part going in πŸ‘βœ”οΈ

*Smoking gun.... Old Plugs???

Read this >>

https://www.astraownersnetwork.co.uk/threads/thrid-ignition-coil-replacement-in-23-months.367982/

.... "This is just a summary of ]the US Astra posts over the years. Some cheap replacement coils fail rapidly but others look just like OEM reboxed. Even OEM coils are subject to medium-term failure without frequent changing of spark plugs. Coil failure seems to hit a reasonable percentage of cars but certainly not all. I change plugs every 25k miles to avoid the issue.

Ah well...

Just been reading up, on Astra Head-Unit U/grades, and discovered we have both a 'constant 12V' & 'Ign only 12V' wire entering the unit....

The ciggy socket [I discovered early on...] is constant live. I was going to pop in my Voltmeter/USB charger = *no go πŸ˜•.

*Leaving it in all the time...

However my Engine Temp setup requires an Ign live.... only on with the engine.... so I will root about for that fly lead and see if I might tap into it 😡

Β

IMG_20240928_130242.jpg

..... I'm planning on a 'quick mod' to the bendy socket [ciggy hole is too near dash controls πŸ˜•] to make it Switch ON/OFF = I can leave music widget in all the time but with no drain....

I’ve had a few FM transmitters of one make or another in a variety of different cars and vans over the years. I’ve found they work best Β for streaming music when the unit itself is as far away from your radio as possible, if you have a 12v outlet in the boot try it there. Not great for answering phone calls mind!
