Minis at Croxley Green From Summer 2009

Sorry about these pictures being a little "dated" but I've just found them at the computer equivalent of the back of the drawer! I went to the Croxley Green get together of the Watford Classic Car Club last summer and posted a set of pictures at the time. I've since found these 3 Mini pictures, here for your delectation...

There's no doubt the Mini drivers and restorers are a very friendly lot! They're as popular as the MG Clubs I bump into and MUCH more open and chatty about their cars.

Then I had a more detailed look at my photostream and dug out a picture of one of our family cars from the early 1970's, followed by a guy who contacted me with a picture of him and his Wartburg from the 1970's as well (dig that haircut!)

That little Countryman is lovely. Unfortunately at 6ft 1" me and Minis don't really gel!!

Really? I'm about the same height and I found Minis quite comfortable to drive.

I'm 6'2" and I've had a few minis. Other than the throttle pedal being at an annoying angle (although no worse than a Zafira) they're ace!.

Well, I must admit I've only driven one...a friends "Mary Quant" special edition. I just remember my head bumping against the roof going over speed bumps and being so very hunched up my accelerator leg ached quite quickly...it did put me off! :(

Yep, I'm 6' and find them incredibly cramped.

A Morris Mini 1000 Mark 2 Traveller in Sandy beige! That's nice, but the Morris grille was nasty!

You can't beat a nice Mark 2 S, Snowberry white with black. This is a proper S, not that awful BMW crap.

This is an odd one. It's on a 1965 plate, but it's smoke grey which was phased out in early 1964 - I guess it was a left over. Pity it's been spoilt with the plastic arches.

Thanks for the pics. I hate the Mini scene but I love early (pre '70) Minis.

Another Mini, this time a much earlier one; my Granny's early Austin Seven! Reg was 458 EUO and I learnt to drive on it!
