bangernomics Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 All the bits have finally landed so no excuses today to get the CT buts done and dusted. At least I have some axle stands here. lesapandre 1
bangernomics Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 Ten mins in and popped my back out of place, I have a couple of fun discs that get me every so often. Two cocodamol, two ibuprofen and carried on albeit slowly and carefully. Can confirm 36mm rear hub nut, t50 for the calliper mounts and the rest was standard spanners. If I wasn’t running at 50% at best probably an hour or so of a job. Took me about two and half. Time for a little rest and then book the retest in on Monday. lesapandre 1
bangernomics Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 This evening was mower based. Ride on ate a cutting deck belt the other day and so one was ordered which landed yesterday so I popped it on this evening. Pain being it keeps tightening up and so I checked the blade bearings which were fine, it doesn’t have a pto take off just runs constantly with the belt going slack and breaks on the deck.Anyway worked for a bit then seized again. One for another day bastard.Temu carb landed for the little one too, with a plug and filter for €11.88! In france too! Motoculture shop wanted €160 for a chinese carb not even fitted the chancers.Anyway.Now working. Wibble, rainagain, lesapandre and 2 others 5
bangernomics Posted May 12 Author Posted May 12 Ahh c’est bon. €10 retest as it was a single area to inspect. Phew for two years. He liked that I did both sides on the basis that it was likely to degrade over the next 2 years so why not. lesapandre, mk2_craig and Wibble 1 2
bangernomics Posted May 26 Author Posted May 26 I picked up some tools today, unfortunately I didn’t use them for car things. Obviously I chose a windy day so the plastic fired off up the garden 5 seconds after this pic.Start with the easy bit to build a bit of confidence, what could go wrong?Any porte in a storm eh.That was fun* now for some shovelling.Mrs. B wants some raised beds inside, but I’m thinking of flipping that on its head and digging some steps down the middle and shoring up the sides with hollow concrete block? bangernomics Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 Sadly no car adventures but I have bought something pointless and two wheeled to be revealed at the end of June.Today though.Start on a bland guest room. I did the ensuite a couple of years ago when we had guests coming so apparently I need to do the room before August. Not too terrible a timescale then. Getting older and weaker it seems, really struggle to manipulate insulated sheets of board on my own these days. The fun part is full ones won’t fit up the stairs so scaffold and window entry when it comes to getting all of it back together. WCPGW. scdan4 1
bangernomics Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 Shite out along with the 200 year old stained glass. Have to do something with those?? Quality French wiring. Every room I pull to bits is full of these shit bodges. Another reel of cable and its all gone thankfully.Just the kitchen and another bedroom left to rewire. Ohdearme 1

bangernomics Posted June 15 Author Posted June 15 That uPVC isn't 200yo, is that glass? No plastic there chief. Thats badly painted and heavily woodworm ravaged oak sat outside. The inside is plastico as are most these days. High Jetter 1
bangernomics Posted June 15 Author Posted June 15 Today proceeded. A wall in front of a wall so we could lose the fireplace that was too low to make a feature and too much work for this round to remodel. Mad as it sounds to pull the wall straight as this one was a trapezoid it was just easier to frame out about 60mm off the old wall. Death box that will be lined and become more shite storage.Much straightness. Mrs B decided the guests were using too many towels so whilst the back of that was getting lined too it was easy apparently to add a power supply in. Hmm joy.I know I could use metal I just like timber and for the roof stuff it is as cheap and makes a much denser wall. I am going to blow some fluff stuff in when all done to kill any rattles too. scdan4, mercedade, Saabnut and 1 other 4
bangernomics Posted June 21 Author Posted June 21 Did a little more today.God it is so hot.Lots of filler today. Then a few bits of timber to support the new ceiling. I have gone with insulated boards for noise more than anything. Quality board stands First one upFancy cranked standHalf way there. Then the power went off. UK plug one end, French the other. Bingo fridge and saw back online. Power can back for 30 mins and has just gone again for 10 mins and a text saying 01.30hrs target resolution. Mrs B said I was a bit too pleased that I got to run the little shite generator again. Maybe. lesapandre, mk2_craig, Coprolalia and 2 others 5
bangernomics Posted June 22 Author Posted June 22 Barstid berlingo bootlock broken.Does this release it? Its making the servo sound but no openings. It has been damn hot here. Lever time. lesapandre 1
bangernomics Posted June 22 Author Posted June 22 Well pulled the clips off the back panel, lock operating fine.It was five pieces of granite chippings wedged between the door and the bumper. One shove and opened. Now I need a bag of trim clips.. great. lesapandre and High Jetter 2
bangernomics Posted June 22 Author Posted June 22 This concludes the boarding. Now a LOT of filler and some plaster and possible a can of foam to get all the gaps sorted. Need to revisit the brico for more timber to line the small cupboard space. Dave_Q and Stinkwheel 2
bangernomics Posted June 28 Author Posted June 28 Sanding and filling has paid off wall is perfect. Now she is going to wallpaper the too half I should have just focussed on the bottom half. Never mind.Ceilings taking shape too. I am going to take a plastering course this winter. Another overpriced bit of old tat bought to chop up. Sits flush enough to hide the knackered sides. Should allow enough of a gap for something awful and laminate to slip under. Back to the UK tomorrow for work and a collection mission in the NE. scdan4, Stinkwheel, Wibble and 2 others 5

Regarding the stained glass we put ours in the top of the wall between the hall and an adjacent room, lit from above. They look good and suit the age of the house, 1900. bangernomics 1
bangernomics Posted July 3 Author Posted July 3 Regarding the stained glass we put ours in the top of the wall between the hall and an adjacent room, lit from above. They look good and suit the age of the house, 1900.You know we have discussed similar. Was thinking of making a lightbox and wall mounting them in the hallway to give the place an ecumenical feel being an old presbytere.
bangernomics Posted July 3 Author Posted July 3 Is it on an A-frame behind you?If I could have I would have. High Jetter 1
bangernomics Posted July 5 Author Posted July 5 Very little car related the last few days other than I finally used the old manual tyre machine replacing an aged tyre on the back with a bargainous deathring that I bought for a whole £5! Bubble balanced and away we go. The old one was pretty goosed.MOT man said it wanted changing this year.Squeezing it together and arse I did 350 miles on that this week in one hit at motorway speeds too. Branded quality now. Saabnut, mk2_craig, Dave_Q and 1 other 4
bangernomics Posted July 8 Author Posted July 8 Back to the shat oh and back to filling and sanding. Ceiling is almost there now, Mrs B gave it a coat of white earlier and I have done the last bits of filler. Storage is in after being chopped and braced up. Final sand of ceiling and next stop panelling. Much boring smoothness. And theres more.It fits! Top to chop and fit in. Saabnut, Wibble, Jazoli and 2 others 5
kevins Posted July 9 Posted July 9 If you want to learn plastering take a look at the on the trowel videos, I've managed quite passable results with tjose and a bit of practice. bangernomics 1
bangernomics Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 Started the faux panelling this evening. Takes an age when you have to slice it first. Le BnQ doesn’t do free or indeed any cutting here. My railsaw has a rail that is just over 1200mm so that makes chopping big boards slow going. Last bit is cut but I need to board over the side of the cupboard. Wibble, Saabnut and Coprolalia 3
DodgeRover Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Cutting full lengths is easy, measure the offset on your saw allowing for the blade width, mark your width plus the offset on the board and clamp another sheet on top to use as a guide to run your saw against. Saves loads of time at the builders merchants and to be honest you can get just as good a result as using a track saw. bangernomics 1
