So it’s held in snowdonia in mid Feb as that’s by and large as cold as it gets. Rock up at checkpoint get told where the rally is the fight the elements for the final leg before setting camp and getting stuck in.

Done loads of racing though never a biker rally, in for a penny…

Am blessed to have a great bunch of mates and have clocked many thousands of miles together living under canvas riding road and trails and getting a little messy come the evening time so caution to the wind and fuck the weather it’ll be a great laugh even if it’s grim going.

Said bunch of mates had the Friday off work so had a twisty road ride to Telford north prem inn.   
Muggings here spent the day living the dream as no paid hols for the self employed.

Pack bike before work.

Start bike up and remember I run it dry so unpack the bike and fuel up.

All I got to do is cut some worktops in no drama. Obviously with that mindset it went to shit rapidly, my router was missing its guide and no 1/4 inch bits to be found anywhere. Favours called and bagged a lovely old elu for the day for the cost of some old speckled hen. Lovely stuff.

Got that set and a few more bits had told my lad that I wanted to be in the road by 3 to catch up with the others. He was cool with that as long as I got a good day in. Didnt do too bad and was away by half past headset blasting the tunes and dicing the traffic across town a1 /m1/m6/m54 fair bit of traffic still not seen this bike crack a ton. 

Coffee and snout break half way. Had a look at a map as had just been blindly heading north at speed, hour and half to go still. Head down rocked up and they’re all outside taking their lids off. Couldn’t of worked out better.

They all went to snug down in their rooms whilst I scouted the area for a decent wild camping spot before hitting the bar. 

When it comes to tents a pissed erection is well practiced thank fuck as as quick as you could say cock in a sock I’m set for the night.

 

 

Random hound there is Nessie. She helped with the worktops. Back in a bit just eating my dinner.

Another hound woke me in the morning. To be fair they probably were perplexed that some hobo had camped in their field. Had dreams of knocking up some breakfast 🍳 in the trangia though in my haste forgot to pack the meths.

This looked kind of tasty. 

Decided to let it crawl free and went to maccys. Felt like I’d let myself down and the sudo sausage repeated on me all day. Repeated on me. Sausage.

Anyway, onto the real meat of it. Riding with pals through lovely scenery.

Stopped for essentials before hitting up the super secret location for this years rally. It’s was bang in the middle of Anglesey. The poppadoms made it intact.

Set camp. The weather was pretty barmy. One of us may have muttered about trying to get a refund haha

The lighting in the barn was harsh. Did feel a bit lights on at the end of the disco. Regardless after a few ribenas a grand time was had. 

Mosh pit was a great fun managed to sweat out a pint or two. The lad we threw onto the stage took it well.

Party continued around our tents till not too long before sun up and the following morning was a harsh reality of a lesson still to learn in my 44 years young, as was the punching in the nav for the three of us who had to be back at work for Monday. 299 m way miles door to door. We don’t do m way as a general rule and to be fair had a lovely ride home only hitting the 25 and m11 for us two southern cowboys to fly through the tunnel back to the bad lands. 
Knocking on the door of 400 id say though fuck knows. 
 

As well as my borrowed NC (thanks Dan, I’ll give it back one day) we had two xt 6’s a 7 and a mighty crf250. Great bike that little Honda amd piloted by a god sits fully loaded at the legal limit for hours on end. Even on full knobblies from the last dirt trip. 
All sorts of bikes there it ain’t what you got it’s the using it that counts.

First adventure of the year am looking forward to many more.

I hope so and it’s not a case of missing the sign that says it’s shut when to all intents and purposes it is open though has a camera on it to fine you like that road in Lewisham the other week! Cunts. I digress.

It’s a beauty for sure. We went in over it and came out on the other one which was also nice mainly for the veiw of the little island with the two houses on. What a place to live.
We stopped at the Tesco in Bangor for ingredients for curry and alcohol. Massive shop that, it gave me the fear so I left with as much grog as I could carry and retired to the carpark to make stocks lighter weight to aid packing. 
People were really friendly loads of random chat whilst waiting for the others and necking a brewdog. Just to clarify drink driving is not cool. I’d only had the one wee can though fair cacked my pants after slowing from a fly by test to see if the poppadoms stayed on and seeing blue lights behind me. Sober or not an empty can in the frunk was not going to look good. 
They too flew by a warning maybe. 
 

I really enjoyed the trip. A lot to pack in a weekend and I could do an early night or two still now to fully recover. 
Have to say the rally was a little tamer than I thought it may be. This might be changing times or it being generally an older crowd or possibly that just I’m still just as stupid as ever or worse if you ask my mrs. 
The days of the angels confiscating drugs the selling them back to you seem to be gone. Burnouts and banging of the limiter shenanigans were few and far between and I didn’t see a proper punch up or any naked people. It was a good experience all said am very glad I went. 
Sorry about the lack of pics there were some interesting bikes, outfits, trailers and shed built death traps. Am sure pics can be found in line loads of people were taking them and vids. Kind of prefer to immerse my self in the spirit of things/get wankered and chat shit/dance about like a lunatic. That’s much more fun.
