Weekend insurance

I love the idea of buying a motor to insure for weekends only and go for long drives in, but does anyone know any insurers who'll do that? Countless people have told me it isn't possible, but I want to hear what people who actually might know what they're on about have to say.Has anyone on here got a similar policy? How much do you reckon I'd be looking at for 12 months cover? Any help appreciated.

Annual classic car policies can be very cheap, or you can use Day-insure to cover you for a few days at a time. however, remember that when you're not using it, it then won't be covered, as if it gets stolen or damaged whilst in storage you'll be facing the loss.

Can't imagine that you'd get an insurer that would just do weekends tbh. Annual classic policies are generally cheap enough anyway so thats probably your best option.

Can't see why you wouldn't want a car insured 24/7 to be honest. It's not just road-risks is it? Get a classic policy and restrict the mileage. Should be peanuts.

I insure the Escort and the Bluebird ona classic policy - £95 a year each with 5000 mile limit.

What company was that Sounds good £95 for 5000 miles Adrian flux will do 3000 miles fully comp for about £200 per year

Day cover costs about £25 and you have to read the small print very carefully - it just keeps you legal to bring a car home.Footman James cover my Saab for £104 and that includes 3rd party liability at shows and breakdown recovery. The only downside of classic car insurance is that you don't get NCB with it.

This is fully comp, MR B put me onto them and it's RH Specialist Insurance Division on 01277 206912I think the car has to be over 21 years old and you have to have another car as your 'main' use vehicle.I've asked for quotes on a few motors and they have all been £90 odd quid as long as over 21. The Mazda 323 and the Bluebird cost the same for instance.Me and the Mrs are covered to drive as well.
