While taking a few pics of this old Hillman Scavenger in Cornwall today, it's owner came over and introduced himself and couldn't believe I wanted to take pics of "The old heap". He has apparently spent the sum total of £850 on 3 cars in 30 years of holding a driving licence, on this and another Avenger and a MK1 Fiesta....

Then, in a broad Cornish accent he said "Ere my 'ansom this one be a rare model with a rear engine in 'un" as he opened the boot ....

Yes, the owner does a bit of boat renovations and painting and carts the genset and a load of other associated gear about in the old Hillman.....

If he stuck that on the bay he'd probably get 850 for it, then he would be able to say his next lifetime expenditure on old cars would be zero.
