Thanks Rab. I have spent most of today just cleaning it :D Trip south may come at any time but I am told it won't be long, and don't know if it will be possible to go anyway due to my work situation as a lot of staff are on hols and I am working extra to help out.

I had to go to fotorabiaville to a funeral last week, I took the Laurel as the trip was 1000 km and the Rover was not ready for a long trip with passengers. Rab is a great chap and has a collection of cars spread about the area.

Today the Rover was taken for a trip of 300km and performed beautifully. It started to run too cool after a stop so the thermostat will be changed. Fuel consumption is now acceptable going by the fuel guage but a fill will check that :) I took it to the local old car fixer the other day to see about the hatch struts (a sideline business of his) and he greeted the car like an old friend!. He did the pre-delivery on it when it was sold new, and has serviced it on and off since then :D He replaced the steering rack and full steering column about 2 years ago, the last major done on it.

And finally ....why do farmers put the old car in the barn "until I get around to welding the exhaust" They come out looking like this lovely Fiat .

and then advertise it for sale like that

EDIT.. just checked the Fiat out, it is status exempt (sorn) and failed its test in Nov 1999

Hey STUNO, great Rover - almost as good as the price you paid! I've really fond memories of these, as a bloke round the corner from me collected them when I was a kid, though most were 2300 and 2600s. He was a taxi driver and had one good one to use as that, with others coming and going over the years, including one in your colour. Has now moved on to a multicoloured/pearlescent purple/green 75 (as horrid as it sounds) and a slowly decaying 600. Plus a dead Range Rover in the drive for good measure.

Anyway, on the Trademe note, I clicked on this yesterday and then checked it on carjam for some reason (must have been bored)

Interestingly, it seems it's not subject to a WOF. What's that all about??

Probably becos its got a farm registration..which also means its tax exempt..or its on Gt.Barrier Island!?so..without compulsory 3rd party we can use our farm cars for nowt..And STUNO..very awesum to have made your fine company..

Took Rover for a long hard run and it is going much better now but idle is random, anywhere from 400 to 1200 RPM. I thought the battery had failed as starting became a problem, but before rushing out to the battery shop I looked at the connections. Took off the earth lead and saw that the brass connection to the body was still covered in its paint from new. Cleaned that off and it is now starting happily, WIN. Next job, check the noises in the front suspension, clonks an bangs at low speed but quiet at high speed, don't think it is serious but the noise was enough to have my passenger ask what it was.

Saw this still working for a living
