Oh the great classic car knowledge of BBC journos exposed again. Not sure how a mid-Seventies DS can be referred to as 'advanced' because it had fuel injection and an automatic (wrong!) gearbox. Quite a few cars had fuel injection by the Seventies!

No, they're referring to electronic fuel injection - rather than the mechanical sort that first saw light of day in stuff like the Merc Gullwing.

There's a big bank office in Chester called MBNA which had a big old German limousine parked up in one of the corridors. Apparently, it was owned by Hitler, but it was sold recently during the recession for £1 million.I went back to day for an interview and asked, as I last worked there in 2003.

They didn't state 'advance' they state 'unusual at the time' and it certainly could have electronic injection as the DS was the second car in Europe to use inj after one of the mercs (also using Bosch L- jetronic). Also, the DS was available with a Borg-Warner full automatic - quite rare but not unheard of - I think it was a special order mostly for the US market before they pulled out of it (today it's nigh on impossible getting bits for the DS full autos as BW do not acknowledge the 'box's existence!)What I wanna know is what they mean by "covered in original African dust" on the 1971 Chrysler - 'original' as in dust untouched for years? Is that a Renault 30 beyond the DS? wonder which despot was ragged around in that!
