Mk1 Transit short promo film

Had seen the orange rallycross Transit before in other vids but didn't know it was a 7-litre V8. Brave driver there, I may try to find out who it was.

For their time the Mk1 and Mk2 Transits were well ahead of whatever else was around. My dad had 6 (not all at the same time, from 1971 to 1998) for his sparky business. First one was a 1970 H-reg 2.0 V4 swb, same engine as the Corsair or Mk4 Zephyr. It had a sliding driver's door which was secure fully closed or fully open, but if half open you could lift it like a gullwing. It could also put the speedo needle right round the clock on long downhill runs. I was in the front with no seatbelt on FFS. I love Mk1 Transits.

Bedford CFs were popular too but slant 4s pissed out oil everywhere - not good on a customer's drive.

(I just googled Transit, apparently in mainland Europe you could have bought a 1.3 litre or 1.5 Cologne V4 Transit!).
