The thread on the Bugatti whether its art or not prompted me to bring this guy to your attention..Richard Prince....and considering Californian artists have been using the Hot Rod and Low Riders as an art form for years..it should be recognized that the vehicle IS a valid art form.

I went to the Dali Museum on drugs in 1990..in the courtyard is a late 40s Cadillac convertible with a huge bronze statue mounted as a bonnet ornament..a big lady with huge titilators..the roofs up with a pair of mannequins..a lady and a chauffeur ..if u dropped a coin in a slot..it rained water inside the car..i looked underneath to see a convenient drainage system to exit the water..

That Dali Caddy has a great punning name which escapes me at the moment. Seem to remember John French mentioning it in the liner notes to the Beefheart boxset too. I know he changed his whole style of drumming after visiting the Dali museum, trying to sound like a Dali painting or some such malarky. May I ask what drugs you were on Rab? I can see it being unimaginally intense on anything stronger than mushrooms.....as for the whole car/art thing, i'm pretty sure a DS is/was in MOMA NY, there have been a couple of others too.

Think there was even a Cisitalia in the MOMA. I saw a great collection of Alfa Romeos in the Stedelijk Museum here many years ago.

prior to the Dali museum..i was living in Granada Espana with a bunch of Germans..they all had cars..so we had a Mk2 Escort..from Berlin..was fucken indestructible..when on acid we used to dance on the roof..or go surfin on it..rallying it in the Sierra Nevada..drove it the length of Portugal [did an illegal border crossing thru to there..Escort picked us up after we d evaded the border patrols!}...after Barcelona on our way to germany ..we had a big lump of hash..we we re then being followed by the cops..so we pulled over and i swallowed the hash..cops stopped..saw the German plates..and drove off..so hence..when we got to Dali's castle..i was well fucked..
