Declaring a car exported.

Hey, someone on here will know how to do this!As probably everyone knows now, I've sold my Piazza to a well known RR member who lives in Germany. He obviously wants to be registered as the new owner, even though he wants to break it to use the mechanicals in his Mk 2 Escort track car. I've looked in the 'New Keeper' and 'Export' sections of the V5, and it's not immediately clear what I need to fill in. Obviously, he's not a UK resident, but there's no section of the new keeper section with 'Country' on it.Given the DVLA's utter incompetence in sorting any kind of application \ change in documentation out, I want to get this right.HLP PLS.

You send the purple section to the DVLA and hand the V5 to the new owner. That it!

But where do I write his address? Do I get an amended V5 and send that to him?

Sold a car to a chap from Ireland a couple of years ago, like ratdat says you fill in the purple section and send it off.The new owner will need the full V5 for customs in his country. For peace of mind write a receipt out in a copy-book with both of your details.I put both the time and date on mine, then both of you sign it.Give him the top copy and you keep the other.

Or here in the 21st century we scan stuff into the computer and keep them online......

No, once it's off out of the country the DVLA have no further interest in it or who is having it. All they need to know is that is't gone. It's up to the new keeper to take the UK document, as is, along with any customs paperwork he'll have had to do and get the car registered at his countries equivelent of the DVLA.
