VW Clipper in the snow

well well well,a week of debauchery and the rubbish situation was getting out of hand - a cardboard box mountain - frozen solid - in the front garden and 3 full bags of rubbish in addition to our full wheelie bin - nothing for it - I was going to have to go to the civic dump.So - the options - well there is the volvo - the immediate thought flew to that - then I imagined the frozen, snowy cardboard boxes slowly melting all over the boot and decided - no!the XM - no for same reasonthe morris - no luggage ability!so .....my eyes moved to the Clipper - well, she hadn't moved in 2 weeks and not since the snow and the battery was flat - inside she was frozen solid - icicles etc ice on the dash - a bit of fiddling with a battery booster and a skoosh of carb cleanser and vroom - got her warmed up - dropped the electric hood - then it started snowing. We have had an inch in 30 this afternoon - on top of frozen snow - very very cold in Edinburgh just now. So I put the hood back up and waited for the snow to stop - then when it had I lowered the roof - and put the frozen rubbish in the back seat - wrapped up warm and drove the 4 miles to the dump in the snow witht he roof down - great car in the snow - very slippy and lots of skidding around but the Mk1 Clippy coped no problem at all - took longer than usual thanks to the slow traffic but when I got onto the rural roads around the dump it was great! fantasy rally driver....snow stage!got a few funny looks from the punters but deposited the stiff frozen rubbish and got home in a jiffy!

thanks - the hood is the best thing about the car as it is new - I made sure the interior was warmed up then removen all the snow and ice from the hood - then gave it a good beating to makes sure it was defrosted before folding downI cracked a hood on an MG years ago in the ice -
