Board purge??

Searching for an old post, the forum is telling me the topic does not exist. I notice there are now only nine pages of threads in General Chat. Has the fat been trimmed or is this a temporary "glitch" ?

A-ha, yes, well spotted. The elusive Blakey warned myself & Mr E Leyland that Autoshite was getting extremely close to breaking point (for want of a technical term), so he had to purge some of the older threads on the forum. Apologies for not letting you know, but we didn't realise until yesterday morning.I guess its just the same as driving your Marina Estate down the M5 on your holidays & you can only get 45mph out of it - you've got to throw out half of your luggage & ditch the roofrack to restore her to her former glory - ie 60mph tops. Or something like that.

Yes, will try to give you prior warning in future. Also, m'colleague Mr Leyland is hoping to teach himself how to do more teccy stuff so we will rely less on Blakey & therefore have more control over things like this.

I cannot believe this has hapenned chaps. Was not our doing. Am in talks with the site technician to see if there's any hope of getting the stuff back. I am almot in tears here. This is not good at all.

Fear not Rich for I have copies of every single photo I took of rubbish old vehicles in and around the fine city of Leicescescester. Unfortunately what I haven't got is a record of the informative comments received in response to the pictures from members of this board, which is a shame seeing as some of them were hilarious.I had been meaning to set up my own spots website like Datsuncherry's so as if the worst happened I could still provide a link to the pics. Perhaps there is an Autoshite forum back-up on a server somewhere?

Chaps please don't get disheartened just yet, we are doing our best to get the old forum topics restored, there is still hope. My own entire Spotting thread is in there too! More news as it develops.

Hope you can 'find' it back, somewhere in cyberspace.I've put links to my photo collections in my sig, although these are rather messy, unorganised heaps of pics, spots, old archive stuff etc. I hope to set up a good flickr account soon, when I finally scan my brochures, old mags etc.

It's the Wayback Machine.You can put any web address into it into it and look at previous versions of the page. You can even see websites that no longer exist. Some sites are more complete than others.

This is intriguing! The board now only has 9 pages of threads going back to Oct 07 - yes? But if I click on my name (or my profile button) & then click on 'find all posts made by MrRegieRitmo' or words to that effect I get 74 pages of threads going back to Sep 06 which is around the time I first started posting. So what I'm saying is, although I'm undoubtedly missing posts, in light of this, I can't have lost very many! I guess it's another form of archiving? Anyway, do you also fair alot better if you click your 'find all posts made by......' link? Fingers crossed.

In other words KruJoe is one of the lucky ones, he's lost absolutely nothing! Having been positive about it last night, I've just worked out however, that I've lost 1430 posts! (only 1102 remain)
