Tech help - Yank V6 - now sorted

My Chevy Celebrity has been running a bit crap, spluttering on pull off and popping. Anyway, after 1200miles like that, it has decided to get worse and scare me at junctions! I was looking under the bonnet dumbly, as you do - to pretend you know what you are doing (in the dark). I noticed blue flashes coming from where the dizzi is. On further inspection, I noticed a spark going from the coil lead to the coil, which stopped when I moved the lead a little, but there is also arcing either side of where the coil is. I think it is the coil!

What do you reckon - replace coil, leads, dizzi cap and plugs to be on the safe side? Or am I missing something.

I recon what you recon , see the dark evenings have some use even if its so you can have your own personal sparkler display under the bonnet , very apt for today .

Inspect the dizzy cap for cracks, if you can afford it then replace itplug leads..they are the guilty party almost certainly.....replace themcoil its almost certainly fine so only try replacing it if the other items dont sort the plroblemPlugs.......replace them, they make a huge difference if there has been a lot of tracking going on they seem to break down a bit

should think universal ones will fit, if not I have used this company in the states for stuff, often cheaper than anything over here

Feel free to PM me about parts. As long as you know what you'd need odds are good that the cost to buy from the colonies, even with shipping, will be seriously cheap.There are a trillion of these A-bodies on the roads and most have the 2.8 V6. Plenty of new and used parts to go around.

The leads just need to be long enough and have the correct ends. I've bought leads to fit my car before and they are invariably far too long anyway.

Fixed it. Bought two sets of 'deleted stock' leads from a local motor factors for £10Sorted. It now runs better than it did when I got it.
