They were good but not as good as SLF in Liverpool. I did get to see Sham69 once too but they'd copped out big time by then, though I was never into any of the racist crap that seemed to follow them round. I don't know if you ever remember The Toy Dolls but they amazing live, really funny and very good value. saw a few of those sort of bands early eighties and not many disappointed.Apologies for the thread hijack and back o/t:Are useable Capri Mk2s sensibly priced these days? Those pictures bring back some very fond memories of some of the cars I've owned.

Very fond memories of a Mk2 1.3 with a 1600 Crossflow lump in it. It was Olympic Blue iirc and handily enough I was contracted to P&O Roadtanks at the time whose wagons were the same colour so paint was never a problem!Looking now it seems only late Mk3s are slightly less popular than the others but I expect they'll fetch stupid money before long.

I'd love a Mk2 Capri S. JPS would be nice, but my childhood memory (1983) is of a friend's mum who had a lovely S-plate one in a sort of metallic raspberry colour, with the snowflake (like on a Mk2 Scrote Ghia) alloys. That was a handsome machine, no mistake.

Lovely. That XR3 looks superb, I'd be more than happy with one although I suspect good ones will be out of reach shortly...I really must get to Crich at some point. Virtually pass the place (well, ish) every other Sunday so I'd better make the effort sometime.

Some lovely cars there.I have a mk2 capri 1.6L, a very early one, M reg. They are fantastic cars, but becoming rare nowadays. As said above they were always the unloved one. They rot badly too, mine was a complete shed when I got it (Best £100 I ever spent!!).I would say if your likely to want one get one sooner rather than later, values of all capris are going up and, like escorts they may well become unaffordable.

'M' reg? Bloody hell that is early, I always thought the Mk2 didn't come out until late '76?

January 1974, M reg were the first. Mine was built March 74. The early ones have the mk1s rear axle, Using up left over parts I guess, the later mk2s had the same as mk3s. Late 76 was almost the end of mk2 production. I think 78 were the last. The mk2s were built for the shortest period of time, and they are now the rarest, (excluding export types and individual models like mk1 RS3100!)They look very similar to mk3s but very few body and interior parts are the same. So getting a really good one is a must, mine wasnt good at all and I spent a long time fixing it and trying to find parts!
