Headlight resto

My 2004 e60 has the usual poor headlights.

The plastic has faded - they are active xenons - £1300 a pop from BMW. It's a no from me. I had tried polishing them on the car but the results were shit. So I bought some of this -

I took the o/s light out and rubbed off the previous attempt - different grades of wet and dry were needed. I was left with a scuffed headlight.

A mop in a power drill and 3m fast cut plus started to get a shine.

It's getting there.

I then wiped down the headlight in readiness for the spray. Six coats later I was left with this -

What have I learned - polishing is'nt enough - the light need clearcoat that is sprayed on - none of this apply with a sponge bollocks. Also, take the headlight off the car - you will get far better results. I will do the other one tomorrow.

Apparently that Owatrol stuff gives a similar result.

Might try it on the diesel Borat.

is that a miniature workbench or is that headlight flipping enormous ? good results, anyway - my saab could do with similar treatment but I'd better concentrate on making the engine run first :)

Just a workmate - but the headlights are large.
