Surely the most gob-smackingly stunning car ever designed.

One of the very best certainly - but for me the Khamsin pips it.

Hmm I wonder why.

Not unless it's had an engine transplant, it isn't.  It's listed as having a 390 which is the right size for an AMC engine which is nothing like a Chrysler big block.

Don't bother reading the description.

Can this one fly?

Although I already commented yesterday, that the Matador was not available with the 390.

The only V8s offered were the 304 short deck or the 360 raised deck.

The 401 was briefly available as well, but only in 1974 and only for "fleet" and "police" purchases,

which in plain English means homologation for NASCAR eligibility.

Since I sold a mint stage 3 9-5 a few months ago I want another for winter.

Obvs not this crock.

twin exhaust with an educator fitted

Thats pretty exciting, an exhaust that makes your cleverererer.

Having received a questions wether the authenticity of this car being modified by Abbott Racing or if just a sticker has been placed under the bonnet, it would be illegal to quote it under the consumer rights act had it not been the case. I hope this quantifies the answer for those of you asking!

I might have known you'd beat me to it (and with superior knowledge too) - if he's quoting 390 though that's not a size the Chrysler came in either surely?  383 would be the closest Chrysler big-block wouldn't it?

I liked this at the foot of the Wikipedia article on Matadors -

Hemmings Classic Car magazine listed the 1974–78 Matador Coupe as one of their 19 pieces of rolling proof that the old-car hobby need not be expensive

and

An article in 1991 entitled "Cool Cars Nobody Wants" describes the 1974–75 AMC Matadors as a collectable, stating: "long considered the automaker to geeks, American Motors began its slow decline, we believe, when the liberal do-gooders who made up its core market began earning enough money to buy Scandinavian cars."[

I won't argue for a second that the Matador is a mighty fine and woefully overlooked machine.

It is in essence a real Pony Car without any scene tax applicable, but contrary to most, real NASCAR pedigree.

Nobody really wants one though, thus it's Autoshite by definition.

When I think of the numerous Chrysler big blocks available over the decades, I don't know of one that only came in three displacements.

Maybe there is still something I have to learn and for once, I'm serious.

What I don't have to learn however, is the fact, that that Matador seller is a grade A dinglebrain.

Sadly the Lagonda has zoomed well out of my range today. Probably for the best.

I nearly bought a Khamsin once about 10 years or so ago, when they were unfashionable and cheap(-ish) - sub £10k, anyway. Lovely, but not as F*CK ME THE FUTURE JUST DROVE PAST as an early Lagonda.

*sigh*
