2012 Clio emergency, trapped gubbins in boot lock

Hey folks, sorry for posting this in the main section but it's an emergency & I'm looking for ideas.

A friend has trapped a coat or something in the boot of her 2012 Clio while closing it, now the boot can't be opened or closed and the boot light is on... she also can't lock the car.

Any ideas? My first thought is to try to heave the boot open, but I don't know the vehicle & don't want to damage anything by trying... she's calling round in 30 mins or so & any assistance would be appreciated :-)

Push the lid down to squash the coat, take the pressure off the lock and let it open normally?

Just press the release button and lift the hatch as hard as you can...99% of the time, it will open...the weight of the boot lid shutting will squash the coat in the lock but the lock itself probably hasn’t closed around the bar due to the coat being there...

Mission accomplished!

It was the sleeve of a blouse, and was slim enough to wrap around the locking bar... I managed to rip away most of it from inside & could then rag (pun intended, lol...) the boot lid open from the outside.

Bronte is now very happy, and has asked me to pass on massive thanks to you lot as well :-)

[Mods, feel free to delete this thread or move it to Modern Shite where it really belongs.]

I only clicked on this cos I thought you'd trapped your gubbins in the boot lid of a Clio and thought fuck that sounds painful. Still though fair play at getting it sorted!

I was waiting in a hospital once and overheard a bloke talking that had done this to his hand.

Luckily they had removed the car before bringing him to hospital. *Don't know if it was a Clio.
