4 cars and none of them work.

My baby, my Subaru Legacy GTV is off the road with either a knackered clutch or a seized engine. No idea when it'll be running again.

My Granvia fun bus has run out of MOT and I haven't been able organise my finances to get it through another one yet. Didn't think we'd need it over winter but typically my friend has just asked me to transport a mobility scooter for them which is too big for my daily drive....

Said daily drive is my Subaru Legacy GTB, which currently has a suspected boost leak. It still runs but having to be very gentle with it to prevent knock and blowing the engine. Off to my mechanic next Monday to plug in a vacuum pump to see which of the 32 vac lines has split...Wish us luck!

And finally, just agreed to buy another Legacy. A gorgeous gen 4, 2003 model with the lovely 3 ltr petrol engine....which has no MOT, need a rear shock, possibly a new set of tyres and a thermostat...This was definitely a decision made with the heart and not with the head, but it should be worth a fair bit more once fixed.

Now, where the hell do I start with all of these?! Lol

1 at a time - are they all insured i.e could you jump in any once mot’d? If so cheapest repair first...

You have 2 non working Subarus and to fix this you are buying another that needs work? You have been following this forum to the letter, well done! Good luck, do you have a specialist or trusted local garage for MOTs etc?

I thought I was bad with one non running Volvo and roffle Xantia at the opposite end of the country! My daily could do with some minor fettling but will be ok until I can get the Xantia home

Yep my tame mechanic is a specialist in both Subarus and French cars - he runs Clios and small Pugs as dailies and uses Legacies as his tow cars, or his Espace for anything huge.

Only the daily drive is currently MOT'd so that will be getting looked at first. That and the Granvia are insured. The newbie will be out on day insurance for me to collect it and see what said mechanic makes of it before I spend anything more on it. Very curious for a drive it tho. Had an Outback with the same engine but the auto box could never make up it's mind what gear it wanted. This one is the next generation and a different box so hopefully it's better. Doesn't have Bilsteins but as it's a sport model, hoping it'll corner better than the Outback.

Can you tell I love Scoobies? ;)

PICS PLZ.

I love my legacy, yes it's thirsty and expensive to run, but it's bloody brilliant.

Is it a Spec B like mine, or an R?

Edit: Time to change your username to FlatFourteen?

Only an R, with the autobox. Would have preferred a Spec B but I wasn't actually planning on buying another Legacy, full stop lol This one was just too good of a deal to not take a punt on.

i love my other half, the granvia should only be a bit of welding and a oil change, the cosmetics can wait, scotshiters have seen it, the white scoob will either be a 5 minute or 5 hour job, the h6 might be a pain in the bawsack but could be a piece of piss if its just a thermostat. so do that, rear shocks, swap a set of wheels and put a ticket on it.... sounds easy... the blue twin turbo will get done... also my almera shopping trolley needs mot on 31st march but should just be a lube and mot
