Radio repairs

Hello,

Can anyone recommend somebody who can repair a 1990 Blaupunkt radio/cd player. Modern radios look crap in old cars, and the on off switches are to small to use. I would like to fit the original equipment back.

Not a clue. Power getting to it, fuse good. No lights or power. Could just be the main switch, but I would have thought there would be some display lights.

I've looked at quite a few companies around Ilkeston and my instinct leads me towards AMP Electrical who are 10 miles away in Daybrook.

They appear honest and have been around for over 40 years.

There may be an internal (PCB mounted) fuse on the 12V input which may have blown possibly through old age but you won't know unless you open it up which is not the best idea if you aren't confident in doing this.

What model Blaupunkt is this and can you post up a picture of the connections on the back?

That repair place sounds pretty good and worth saving as it's fairly local to me too.

 

(Most "Repair" shops are just parts fitters these days, saw one last week that repaired only flatscreen TVs and wouldn't touch broken screens.... Presumably they take a guess at which one of the three boards inside is faulty! No skill at all)

 

Found one for a guy in Hull who needed his Commodore monitor fixed, duff flyback. Place advertised as 25 years service and they also fix VCRs... If they can make sense of that mess of cogs and servos, they can fix anything.

There's a 7.5amp fuse on the far right of the picture - have you checked it?

First thing I did. Continuity tested the first fuse, all OK. Changed anyway and checked second fuse.

Apologies, just went for the low hanging fruit there.

I found two on Ebay, one in Germany and one in the US but both seem to have faults.

I'd give that repair firm I posted earlier a punt if I were in your shoes, sorry I can't help any further.

Off topic slightly but does anyone know how to adapt an early car radio/cassette to have a jack plug adapter to allow the tunes to be played from my phone please

Gave amp a call, not partially helpful or polite! I’ve received a call from a shop in Portsmouth who can help. Just have to get it there. Going on the hunt for boxes and bubble wrap.

What make and model is it?

Soz for the delay, too much shite not enough time ! My radio cassette is a Philips rc388, it all works good just would be better having a jack lead for attaching the phone for extra tunes .
